Lee Kernaghan OAM (born 15 April 1964) is an Australian country music singer, songwriter and guitarist. Kernaghan has won four ARIA Awards and three APRA Awards, and has sold over two million albums, and as of 2021, has won 38 Golden Guitars at the Country Music Awards of Australia (second to Slim Dusty). He was the 2008 Australian of the Year, in recognition of his support for rural and regional Australia. The song was released in March 1983 as a single, which hit number one on the national Kent Music Report Singles Chart for two weeks. NOTE: Used for Australian Singles and Albums charting from 1974 until ARIA created their own charts in mid-1988. In 1992, Kent back calculated chart positions for 1970–1974. Biography Early years Steve Forde was born in the regional farming centre of Cowra, New South Wales in 1977.
