Spirit Zone Recordings
Spirit Zone Recordings was an independent record label releasing Goa trance, psychedelic trance, progressive trance and ambient music. Founded in 1994 by Wolfgang Ahrens (a.k.a. DJ Antaro), the label has been defunct since July 2005. Some of the artists that started their careers and released their albums on the label are Electric Universe, Space Tribe, Shiva Chandra, Etnica, and S.U.N. Project. Spirit Zone also released music by Ololiuqui, Star Sounds Orchestra, Patchwork, Gabriel Le Mar, Ooze, Mekkanikka, Necton and many others. Spirit Zone was also famous with its series of ''Global Psychedelic Trance'' compilations that included tracks by the label's artists and other famous names from the international psychedelic trance scene. All releases in the series, except for the first one, were double-CD packs, with the first CD containing dance music and the second CD containing ambient music. Goa Trance
Goa trance is an electronic dance music style that originated in the early 1990s in the Indian state of Goa. Goa trance often has drone-like basslines, similar to the techno minimalism of 21st century psychedelic trance (psytrance). Psychedelic trance developed from Goa trance. History The music has its roots in the popularity of Goa, India, in the late 1960s and early 1970s as a hippie capital, and although musical developments were incorporating elements of industrial music, New beat and electronic body music (EBM), with the spiritual culture in India throughout the 1980s, the actual Goa trance style did not appear until the early 1990s. Etnica
Etnica is a project originally formed by Carlo Paterno, Max Lanfranconi, Maurizio Begotti, and Andrea Rizzo. They are a very well known Goa trance project from Milan, Italy. 1993-1998 Max Lanfranconi was a co-producer on an independent Italian label Time Out and had released two singles in the mid-80's. Max was also member of the 'Tribe' group and by 1988 he began organizing 'Dance all Night' parties in Italy. Dance All Night parties became very famous, the first official parties in Italy to last till the morning lights. Encouraged by the success Max decided to start producing and around in 1992 he met Andrea Rizzo and they started to make music together. Meanwhile, around the same time Maurizio Begotti and Carlo Paterno had started making music elsewhere. In 1993 they all met a record shop and decided to produce music together and Etnica was born.
