Spirit International Amateur
The Spirit International Amateur Golf Championship is a biennial amateur golf tournament which takes place in alternating years with the World Amateur Team Championships. The competition consists 20 countries represented by teams of four (two men and two women) and takes place at the Whispering Pines Golf Club, located 80 miles outside of Houston in Trinity, Texas. Added in 2013, the winner of the individual men's competition receives a sponsor exemption to the PGA Tour’s Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial. Format Teammates compete in a 72-hole best ball competition in which medals are awarded to the top three places in each of the five following categories; International Team (combined men's and women's teams), men's team, women's team, men's individual, and women's individual. Trinity, Texas
Trinity is a city in Trinity County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,343 at the 2020 census. History Trinity was founded in 1872 on land purchased from the New York and Texas Land Company. The town was a railroad station on the Houston and Great Northern Railroad. The town was originally named Trinity Station after the Trinity River. The name of the town was later changed to Trinity City, then to Trinity. The town was incorporated in 1910. Kelly Kraft (born October 5, 1988) is an American professional golfer. Amateur career Kraft was born in Denton, Texas. During his final year at Billy Ryan High School, 2006–07, Kraft served as team captain while earning All-District honors. While attending Southern Methodist University (SMU), he played college golf for the SMU Mustangs. Kraft won the 2011 Trans-Mississippi Amateur in July. Ally McDonald
Ally Leigh Ewing (née McDonald; born October 25, 1992) is an American professional golfer and plays on the LPGA Tour. McDonald was born in Tupelo, Mississippi and grew up in Fulton, Mississippi. She played college golf at Mississippi State University where she won five events. She also won the Mississippi State Amateur twice and the North and South Women's Amateur. She played on the winning U.S. teams in the 2013 Spirit International Amateur Golf Championship and the 2014 Curtis Cup. McDonald turned professional after graduating from college in 2015. Scott Alexander Scheffler (born June 21, 1996) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. From March to October 2022, he was World Number 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking. Jordan Niebrugge (born August 4, 1993) is an American professional golfer. Early life Niebrugge was born just outside St. Louis in Bridgeton, Missouri. Mariel Lancy Galdiano (born June 25, 1998) is an American amateur golfer. At age 13 she was the youngest golfer at the 2011 U.S. Women's Open. Galdiano made the cut at the 2015 U.S. Women's Open.
