Spider (DC Comics)
"Alias the Spider" is a superhero feature from the Golden Age of Comic Books that appeared in Quality Comics' '' Crack Comics'' for nearly three years, starting with issue #1 in 1940. He was created by writer-artist Paul Gustavson. The original Golden Age version of the character is in the public domain, but the rights to all subsequent versions are currently owned by DC Comics. Publication history Only one adventure of the Spider has ever been reprinted by DC Comics, which acquired the Quality Comics stable of characters when that company went out of business in 1956: the story from ''Crack Comics'' #25, in '' Detective Comics'' #441. The Spider later made sporadic cameo appearances in ''All-Star Squadron'' and '' The Young All-Stars''. As a Quality Comics character, he was one of the heroes who went with Uncle Sam to protect Earth-X during World War II, becoming part of the Freedom Fighters. The Spider
The Spider is an American pulp-magazine hero of the 1930s and 1940s. The character was created by editor Harry Steeger and written by a variety of authors for 118 monthly issues of ''The Spider'' from 1933 to 1943. A 119th Spider novel manuscript, ''Slaughter Incorporated'', had been completed but was not published until decades later. A complete list of all 119 Spider pulps in the original series is available online at fan sites. ''The Spider'' sold well during the 1930s, and copies are valued by modern pulp magazine collectors. Shining Knight ( cy, Marchog Disglair) is the name of multiple fictional superheroes appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The original version was created by Creig Flessel and first appeared in ''Adventure Comics'' #66 (September 1941). Speedy (comics)
Speedy is the name of two DC Comics superheroes that have each served as teenaged sidekicks for the Green Arrow. Fictional character biographies Roy Harper The original Speedy's real name was Roy Harper Jr.. He first appeared in ''More Fun Comics'' #73 (November 1941), where he was identified as the orphaned son of Roy Harper Sr., a forest ranger who had died saving a Navajo Nation, Navajo medicine chief named "Brave Bow" from a fire. Brave Bow raised the younger Roy himself, training him at archery. Roy Jr. took to this training eagerly, and idolized the archer superhero, Green Arrow. As a teenager, Roy is given the opportunity to perform at an archery competition judged by Green Arrow, where he assists the hero at foiling an attempted burglary, even proving himself to be a faster shot than the hero. Green Arrow is a superhero who appears in American comic books published by DC Comics. Created by Mort Weisinger and designed by George Papp, he first appeared in ''More Fun Comics'' #73 in November 1941. His secret identity, real name is Oliver Jonas Queen, a wealthy businessman and owner of Queen Consolidated who is also a well-known celebrity in Star City (comics), Star City. He uses this position to hide the fact that he is the Arrow.
