Spencer Martin (ice Hockey)
Spencer Martin (born June 8, 1995) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender for the Abbotsford Canucks of the American Hockey League (AHL) while under contract to the Vancouver Canucks in the National Hockey League (NHL). Martin was selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the third round, 63rd overall, in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career An Ontario native, Martin played midget hockey with the Toronto Jr. Canadiens before he was originally selected 18th overall in the 2011 OHL Priority Selection by the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors, He made his debut in the 2011–12 season, appearing in 15 games in the last season that the team was known as the Majors. During the campaign Martin won a bronze medal with Team Ontario at the 2012 World U-17 Hockey Challenge, and was also a member of Canada's team at the 2012 IIHF World U18 Championships which won bronze in the Czech Republic. San Antonio Rampage
The San Antonio Rampage were a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League based in San Antonio, Texas. The Rampage was primarily owned by Spurs Sports & Entertainment throughout the team's existence. In 2020, the franchise was sold to the Vegas Golden Knights and relocated as the Henderson Silver Knights. History In 2000, construction began on the SBC Center, located next to the Freeman Coliseum, home of the Central Hockey League's San Antonio Iguanas. Partnering with the Florida Panthers, the Spurs bought the dormant Adirondack Red Wings franchise and moved it to San Antonio. 2012 IIHF World U18 Championships
The 2012 IIHF U18 World Championship was the 14th IIHF World U18 Championship and was hosted in Brno, Znojmo and Břeclav, Czech Republic. It began on 12 April 2012 with the gold medal game played on 22 April 2012. Brno and Znojmo were originally to co-host, but a schedule change became necessary when Kometa Brno unexpectedly advanced to the Czech Extraliga finals, making their home ice unavailable to the tournament on three days. Jaroslav Halák
Jaroslav Halák (; born 13 May 1985) is a Slovak professional ice hockey goaltender for the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League (NHL). Halák was selected with the 271st overall pick by the Montreal Canadiens in the ninth and final round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Nicknamed "Jaro", he first played for the Canadiens during the 2006–07 season, and remained with the team until being traded to the St. Louis Blues after the 2009–10 season. He played for the Blues until the 2013–14 season when he was traded to the Buffalo Sabres. Before playing a game with the Sabres, he was traded to the Washington Capitals, for whom he only played 12 games before his rights were once again traded, this time to the New York Islanders. The San Diego Gulls are a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League (AHL) that began play in the 2015–16 season. Based in San Diego, California, and affiliated with the National Hockey League's Anaheim Ducks, the Gulls play their home games at the Pechanga Arena. 2016–17 AHL Season
The 2016–17 AHL season was the 81st season of the American Hockey League. The regular season began on October 14, 2016, and ended on April 15, 2017. The 2017 Calder Cup playoffs began on April 20, 2017. Regular season The AHL had a slight alignment shift with the addition of the Tucson Roadrunners to the one-year-old Pacific Division, bringing the division member total up to eight. It also created an unbalanced conference alignment with the Western Conference having 16 members and the Eastern Conference containing 14 members. Similar to the season scheduling in the previous season, the five California based teams, plus the new Tucson team, continue to play a 68-game season while the rest of the AHL teams play a 76-game season. 2013 IIHF World U18 Championships
The 2013 IIHF U18 World Championship was the 15th IIHF World U18 Championship and was hosted in Sochi, Russia. This was also a test event for the facilities to be used in the 2014 Winter Olympics. It began on 18 April 2013 with the gold medal game played on 28 April 2013. Canada won its third under-18 championship by defeating the four time defending champion Americans 3–2. Canada Men's National Under-18 Ice Hockey Team
The Canadian men's national under 18 ice hockey team is part of a three-stage Program of Excellence beginning with the Under-17 regional teams and ending with the National Junior Team. The primary objectives of the Under-18 program are to identify, evaluate, and condition players to the rigors of international competition by giving first exposure to off-shore officiating, ice-surfaces, and travel. The Under-18 squad traditionally competes in the month of August, during the off season, to allow players to further develop skills with their respective junior teams in the winter following a week-long camp.
