''Spell of the Looking Glass'' (German: ''Im Bann des Eulenspiegels'') is a 1932 German comedy drama film directed by Frank Wisbar and starring Franz Weber, Ursula Grabley, and Oskar Karlweis.The BFI companion to German cinema p.255 It was shot at the Johannisthal Studios in Berlin. The film's sets were designed by the art directors Karl Machus and Fritz Maurischat. Frank Wisbar
Frank Wisbar (born Franz Wysbar 9 December 1899 – 17 March 1967) was a German film director and screenwriter. Born in Lithuania, Wisbar directed more than 20 films between 1932 and 1967 in Germany and the United States, as well as amassing many television credits. He created TV's ''Fireside Theatre'' and was the show's producer in addition to frequently directing and writing episodes. He was also a member of the jury at the 10th Berlin International Film Festival. Olly Gebauer (1908–1937) was an Austrian film actress.Vieira p.151 During the early sound era she established herself in the German film industry. Following the rise of the Nazi Party to power in 1933 she fled into exile with her Jewish husband, director Max Nosseck. Hedwig Wangel (1875–1961) was a German stage and film actress. Life and career Born as Amalie Pauline Hedwig Simon on September 23, 1875, in Berlin in the German Empire, Hedwig Wangel was the daughter of a music publisher. After studying acting with Max Grube, she made her theatrical debut in 1893 in ''Urania''. Theo Lingen (; 10 June 1903 – 10 November 1978), born Franz Theodor Schmitz, was a German actor, film director and screenwriter. He appeared in more than 230 films between 1929 and 1978, and directed 21 films between 1936 and 1960. Life and career Lingen was born the son of a lawyer in the city of Hanover, and grew up there.
