Spectrum Community School
Spectrum Community School was an alternative high school in Kingston, Washington, United States. It was a part of the North Kitsap School District. The school had been running for over 20 years, and earned two awards of Special Merit from the Grammy Foundation in Los Angeles. The school was designed for students searching for a nontraditional learning environment that embraced diversity, inclusion, different learning styles and preferences, tools, and a student empowered curriculum. The school sponsored exchange programs with Russia and Mexico. The school promoted social responsibility, respect for cultural diversity and appreciation for lifelong learning, and was founded with the support of North Kitsap School District and Chris Wendelyn in 1986. Kingston, Washington
Kingston (formerly Appletree Cove) is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. The population was 2,099 at the 2010 census. Kingston is along the shores of Appletree Cove and Puget Sound, and is home to a major Washington State Ferry terminal linking it to Edmonds. Geography Kingston is located in northeastern Kitsap County at (47.798764, −122.499071), on the east side of the Kitsap Peninsula. Washington State Route 104 runs through the community from the Washington State Ferry terminal, leading northwest to Port Gamble. Bremerton is to the southwest by highway. Alternative High School
Alternative High School (AHS) is a public senior high (secondary) school in Calgary, Alberta, Canada; which teaches grades 10 through 12. AHS is currently located at the Clinton Ford Centre, which was home to the former Clinton Ford Elementary School. AHS was launched, independent of the board, in September 1974 by a parents group. It reflected many of the "alternative education" ideas that were popular at the time. The early philosophy the school borrowed from the ideas of A. S. Neill, who founded Summerhill School. North Kitsap School District 400 is the school district serving the northern portion of Kitsap County, including the communities of Poulsbo, Keyport, Port Gamble, Hansville, Indianola, Suquamish, and Kingston, Washington.
