Speck Electronics
Speck Electronics manufactures professional audio mixers, equalizers, and microphone preamps. The company was founded in Los Angeles in 1973 by designer and engineer Vince Poulos, who remains active in the company to this day. From 1973 through 1986, Speck's primary product was a 16-32 input, 8 bus "in-line" recording console. Speck was one of the earliest U.S. manufacturers of professional quality consoles. Their mixer design was modular allowing the consoles to be manufactured at a less expensive cost than competing semi-custom designs of the time. Speck's current product lineup includes parametric equalizers, mixing consoles, analog line mixers, and microphone preamplifiers. Parametric Equalizer
Equalization, or simply EQ, in sound recording and reproduction is the process of adjusting the volume of different frequency bands within an audio signal. The circuit or equipment used to achieve this is called an equalizer. Most hi-fi equipment uses relatively simple filters to make bass and treble adjustments. Graphic and parametric equalizers have much more flexibility in tailoring the frequency content of an audio signal. Broadcast and recording studios use sophisticated equalizers capable of much more detailed adjustments, such as eliminating unwanted sounds or making certain instruments or voices more prominent. Mixing Console
A mixing console or mixing desk is an electronic device for mixing audio signals, used in sound recording and reproduction and sound reinforcement systems. Inputs to the console include microphones, signals from electric or electronic instruments, or recorded sounds. Mixers may control analog or digital signals. The modified signals are summed to produce the combined output signals, which can then be broadcast, amplified through a sound reinforcement system or recorded. Mixing consoles are used for applications including recording studios, public address systems, sound reinforcement systems, nightclubs, broadcasting, and post-production. Microphone Preamplifier
The term microphone preamplifier can either refer to the electronic circuitry within a microphone, or to a separate device or circuit that the microphone is connected to. In either instance, the purpose of the microphone preamplifier is the same. A microphone preamplifier is a sound engineering device that prepares a microphone signal to be processed by other equipment. Microphone signals are often too weak to be transmitted to units such as mixing consoles and recording devices with adequate quality. Fallbrook is a CDP in northern San Diego County, California. Fallbrook had a population of 30,534 at the 2010 census, up from 29,100 at the 2000 census. Fallbrook's downtown is not on a major highway route. It is west of Interstate 15 or north of State Route 76. Fallbrook is immediately east of the U.S. Marine Corps' Camp Pendleton.
