''Specials'' was a 1991 BBC Birmingham series about Special Constables in a fictional Midlands town. Twelve 50- minute episodes were made. The series was shot on videotape at Pebble Mill, Birmingham and using locations around West Bromwich and Birmingham, England. BBC Birmingham
BBC Birmingham is one of the oldest regional arms of the BBC, located in Birmingham. It was the first region outside London to start broadcasting both the corporation's radio (in 1922) and television (in 1949) transmissions, the latter from the Sutton Coldfield television transmitter. From 1971 BBC Birmingham was based at the Pebble Mill Studios, replacing studios on Broad Street, but in 2004 moved to the Mailbox facility in the city centre. Pebble Mill has been demolished to make way for a dental hospital and school of dentistry, which opened in 2016. BBC Birmingham is not to be confused with BBC Midlands, which is also based at the Mailbox. BBC Birmingham is the name of the Network Productions Centre in Birmingham making network programmes for television and radio. Lockwood West
Harry Lockwood West (28 July 1905 – 28 March 1989) was a British actor. He was the father of actor Timothy West and the grandfather of actor Samuel West. Life and career West was born in Birkenhead, Cheshire, England in 1905, the son of Mildred (née Hartley) and Henry Cope West, and through his mother a fourth cousin of the actress Margaret Lockwood, their common ancestor being Joseph Lockwood (c.1758–1837), a former Mayor of Doncaster, West Riding of Yorkshire. West married the actress Olive Carleton-Crowe (died 1985) and with her had two children; a son, the actor Timothy West, and a daughter, Patricia. He made his stage debut in 1926 as Lieutenant Allen in ''Alf's Button'' at the Hippodrome Theatre in Margate, Kent. Kim Vithana
Kim Vithana (born 4 June 1970) is a British actress. She had acted in television serials '' Family Pride'', '' Specials'' and '' Firm Friends'' when the filmmaker Gurinder Chadha took her in ''Bhaji on the Beach'' to play the role of Ginder, a girl of Punjabi origin in England. Cindy O'Callaghan
Cindy O'Callaghan is an Irish psychologist and former actress. Her acting career began in her adolescence, when she was chosen to play the part of Carrie Rawlins in the Disney feature film ''Bedknobs and Broomsticks'' in 1971. She has appeared in a wide range of television programmes and films since, including BBC's '' EastEnders'', where she played Andrea Price for several stints in the 1990s. Her last credited role was in 2001, and she has since given up acting to become a child psychologist.
