Specialized Educational Scientific Center
The Specialized Educational Scientific Center on Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology of Novosibirsk State University (SESC NSU) is an educational institution in Akademgorodok, Novosibirsk, Russia. It provides the final stage of secondary education and is affiliated with Novosibirsk State University. The idea of Specialized Educational Scientific Center was invented in 1962 at the same time with the first Summer School of Mathematics and Physics. SESC was established in 1963 as the High School of Physics and Mathematics № 165. In 1989 it was renamed to SESC (specialized teaching and research center). Nowadays there are about 500 students in SESC. They are taught by more than 260 teachers, including 21 professors, 21 doctors, 81 PhD and 72 associate professors. Akademgorodok ( rus, Академгородок, p=ɐkəˌdʲemɡərɐˈdok, "Academic Town") is a part of the Sovetsky District of the city of Novosibirsk, Russia, located south of the city center and about west of Koltsovo. It is the educational and scientific centre of Siberia. It is surrounded by a birch and pine forest on the shore of the Ob Sea, an artificial reservoir on the river Ob. Formally it is a part of Novosibirsk city, and has never been a closed city. Siberian Branch Of The Russian Academy Of Sciences
The Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SBRAS) was established by the Decree of the Government of the USSR which was based on the proposal of Mikhail Lavrentyev, Sergei Sobolev and Sergey Khristianovich in 1957 as a regional division of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, replacing a previous small branch of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. Sovetsky District is an administrative district (raion), one of the 10 raions of Novosibirsk, Russia. It is located on the right and left banks of the Ob River.
