''Special Delivery'' is the twenty-second solo studio album by American country artist, Dottie West. The album was released in 1979 on Liberty Records and was produced by Randy Goodrum and Brent Maher. The album came on the heels of two chart-topping West duet albums with Kenny Rogers and reestablished West as a major solo artist, becoming West's most successful solo album since 1967, thanks in part to three top 15 country hits on the collection, including "A Lesson in Leavin'", the first solo number one record in West's 20-year career. Background and critical reception ''Special Delivery'' consisted of ten tracks of material and was her first release for Liberty Records (which was previously United Artists Records). The album's tenth track was a cover version of Bob Seger's "We've Got Tonight", which later became a Kenny Rogers and Sheena Easton duet in 1983. Dottie West
Dorothy Marie Marsh West (October 11, 1932 – September 4, 1991) was an American country music singer and songwriter. Along with her friends and fellow recording artists Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn, she is considered one of the genre's most influential and groundbreaking female artists. West's career started in the 1960s, with her top-10 hit, " Here Comes My Baby Back Again", which won her a Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance in 1965, the first woman in country music to receive a Grammy. Sheena Shirley Easton (; born 27 April 1959) is a Scottish singer and actress. Alan Tarney (born 19 November 1945) is an English record producer and musician. He was born in Northside, Workington, Cumberland, but spent his teenage years in Adelaide, Australia, where he met his songwriting and musical partner Trevor Spencer. Rory Michael Bourke (born July 14, 1942 in Cleveland, Ohio is an American country music songwriter and music publisher. Bourke moved to Nashville in 1964 and worked for a period in the promotional department of Mercury Records. His songwriting career took off in the early 1970s and he soon racked up tracks recorded by Charlie Rich, Elvis Presley, Lynn Anderson, Billy Crash Craddock, Olivia Newton-John, and many others.
