Special Correspondents (1943 Film)
''Special Correspondents'' (Italian: ''Inviati speciali'') is a 1943 Italian romantic thriller film directed by Romolo Marcellini and starring Dorothea Wieck, Otello Toso and Maurizio D'Ancora.Trubiano p.16 It was produced as a propaganda film in support of the Italian war effort during the Second World War, released a few months before the overthrow of Benito Mussolini's regime. It was shot at the Farnesina Studios of Titanus in Rome. The film's sets were designed by the art directors Alberto Boccianti and Camillo Del Signore. Synopsis During the Spanish Civil War an Italian journalist meets a woman he takes to be a colleague, but is in fact a Communist agent. They encounter each other years later during the North African Campaign, where she has a change of heart and heroically sacrifices herself. Titanus
Titanus is an Italian film production company, founded in 1904 by Gustavo Lombardo (1885–1951). The company's headquarters are located at 28 Via Sommacampagna, Rome and its studios on the Via Tiburtina, 13 km from the centre of Rome. Lombardo ran the studios until his death in 1951. His son, Goffredo Lombardo (1920–2005) and later his grandson, Guido Lombardo have continued to run the company. The company has been responsible for hundreds of Italian productions. Titanus made many peplum films and comedies featuring Totò and Franco and Ciccio. Piero Palermini (1925–1996) was an Italian film actor. He was cast by Riccardo Freda in the 1949 swashbuckler, possibly due to a physical resemblance to the Hollywood actor Gene Kelly. Luigi Pavese
Luigi Pavese (25 October 1897 – 13 December 1969) was an Italian actor and voice actor. Biography Born in Asti, Pavese started his career in 1916 working as a silent film actor at 19 years of age. He then began his theatrical debut in 1921 and eventually worked his way up to becoming a film actor by the 1930s. He appeared in more than 170 films between 1916 and 1969. By the time World War II ended, Pavese's popularity as an actor increased.
