Spec E30 is a class of racing cars used in National Auto Sport Association (NASA) road racing events. Concept The goal for Spec E30 is to create high levels of competition among similarly prepared BMW E30 3 Series cars at a reasonable cost. It is intended to encourage low-cost, entry-level, production car based competition. National Auto Sport Association
The National Auto Sport Association (NASA) is an American motorsports organization promoting road racing and high-performance driver education. Founded in 1991, NASA hosts High Performance Driving Events (HPDE), automotive rallies, Time Trial, autocross and amateur, club-level automotive racing, divided amongst regionally based chapters within the United States. In September 2006, NASA held its first-ever National Championships at Mid-Ohio. The NASA National Championships are open to any driver who earns points in a minimum of five regional races (in any NASA region or combination of regions). Since 2021, the NASA National Championships have been held at Daytona International Speedway. Time trial Racing in the time trial classes allows drivers to compete against each other for the fastest lap. Road Racing
Road racing is a form of motorsport racing held on a paved road surface. The races can be held either on a closed circuit or on a street circuit utilizing temporarily closed public roads. BMW E30
The BMW E30 is the second generation of BMW 3 Series, which was produced from 1982 to 1994 and replaced the E21 3 Series. The model range included 2-door coupe and convertible body styles, as well as being the first 3 Series to be produced in 4-door sedan and wagon/estate body styles. It was powered by four-cylinder petrol, six-cylinder petrol and six-cylinder diesel engines, the latter a first for the 3 Series. The E30 325iX model was the first BMW to have all-wheel drive. The first BMW M3 model was built on the E30 platform and was powered by the high-revving BMW S14 four-cylinder petrol engine, which produced in its final iteration. BMW M20
The BMW M20 is a SOHC straight-six petrol engine which was produced from 1977 to 1993. It was introduced eight years after the larger BMW M30 straight-six engine, which remained in production alongside the M20. The first cars to use the M20 were the E12 5 Series and the E21 3 Series.
