Spear is a fictional supervillain appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Publication history Spear first appeared in '' Power Man'' #28 and was created by Don McGregor and Frank Robbins. His full name was revealed in '' Fear Itself: Fellowship of Fear'' #1. Fictional character biography Jasper Daniels is the brother of a convict named Jack Daniels and an unnamed brother who operated as Mangler. When Jack was dying of an inoperable brain tumor, he was a candidate for the "Power Man" experiments. When Jack couldn't survive the early "Power Man" experiments, Spear blamed Dr. Noah Burstein and began developing identities that would serve him in his quest to avenge his brother. Spear watched Noah Burnstein from the shadows. Noah noticed him, but did not say anything to Power Man. "Spider-Island" is a 2011 comic book storyline starting in ''The Amazing Spider-Man'' and crossing over into other comic books published by Marvel Comics, most of which were limited series or one-shots specifically for this storyline. The main plot involves the inhabitants of Manhattan Island mysteriously gaining powers similar to Spider-Man. It featured the return of the Jackal and the Queen (Adrianna "Ana" Soria) to the Marvel Universe as well as laying the ground work for the second volume of the ''Scarlet Spider'' series.
