Spartanburg County School District 6 (SCSD6) is a public school district in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, US. Led by superintendent Dr. Darryl Owings, the district operates thirteen schools. It serves western Spartanburg as well as Arcadia, Fairforest, Glenn Springs, Pauline, Roebuck, and most of Arkwright, Hilltop, Saxon and Southern Shops. Roebuck is a census-designated place (CDP) in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 2,200 at the 2010 census. History The community was named for Revolutionary War Officer, Benjamin Roebuck. Roebuck is home to the Walnut Grove Plantation, a preserved 18th-century farmhouse and tourist attraction. One of the daughters of the original owners, Kate Moore, was a scout for General Daniel Morgan during the Battle of Cowpens. Smith's Tavern was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. Geography Roebuck is located at (34.884195, -81.960597). Paul M. Dorman High School is a high school located in Roebuck, South Carolina, United States. The school is part of Spartanburg County School District Six. It consists of a main campus for 10th-12th graders and a separate campus for 9th graders, and a College, Career, and Fine Arts Center. Glenn Springs, South Carolina
Glenn Springs is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, United States located at a spring. It was first listed as a CDP in the 2020 census with a population of 263. History The healing waters of the Glenn Springs were known around the country for over one hundred years. It was said that the waters would heal almost any illness. It is even said that the Indians came to the springs for its healing powers. In the late 18th century, the land around the springs was granted to a Henry Storey by the king. Even George Washington was said to have stopped there to try the waters on a trip to Georgia. In 1825, John B. Glenn bought the land and opened an inn. The springs took its name from Mr. Glenn. His inn was so popular that in 1835 stock was sold to help build a large hotel on the land.
