Sparrho
Sparrho combines human and artificial intelligence to help research professionals and layman users stay up-to-date with new scientific publications and patents. Sparrho's recommendation engine provides personalized scientific news-feeds by using proprietary machine learning algorithms to "aggregate, distill and recommend" relevant content. The platform aims to complement traditional methods of finding relevant academic material such as Google Scholar and PubMed with a system which enables the serendipitous discovery of content and across relevant scientific fields. Recommendation engine Sparrho uses a "three pronged approach" to content recommendation. Vivian Chan
Dr. Vivian Chan (born 21 September 1984) is a British-Australian entrepreneur and businesswoman. She is the co-founder and CEO of Sparrho, a London-based startup blending machine learning and expert human curation to democratise science. Early life Born in Hong Kong, Chan's family moved to Australia when she was six-years-old. She grew up going back and forth between Hong Kong and Australia, eventually settling in Australia's Gold Coast. Her parents worked in education and her grandparents in publishing. Education Chan attended Trinity Lutheran College and went on to study biotechnology at the University of Queensland (UQ), achieving a BBiotech (First-Class Honours) in Drug Design and Development.
