Sparkman High School
Sparkman High School is a public high school in Harvest, Alabama, United States in the Madison County Schools district. The school was named after senator and former vice presidential nominee John Jackson Sparkman. Sparkman is one of the largest high schools in northern Alabama and serves students in grades 10- 12. The school's mascot is a Senator. The school has an enrollment of around 2,400 students. Sparkman High's main rivals are Bob Jones High School and James Clemens High School. In 2006, the Sparkman Ninth Grade School was built next to the high school. Campus Sparkman High was originally located in Toney. The old building is now Sparkman Middle School. Now located on Jeff Road in Harvest, the current high school building was built in 1997. The facility has art rooms, two gyms, a photo studio, drama rooms, a choir room, a band room, three JROTC rooms and musical theater classes. Michael Andrew Whitt is an American banker, politician, and a Republican member of the Alabama House of Representatives, representing District 6. Whitt is chair of the Economic Development and Tourism committee and the vice chair of the house financial services committee. Rep. Jonathan Lewis Wallace (born May 16, 1986) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Walter Tigers Tübingen of the Basketball Bundesliga. Charles Jay-R Strowbridge II (born February 19, 1988) is an American professional basketball player for Venados de Mazatlán of the Circuito de Baloncesto de la Costa del Pacífico (CIBACOPA). He played college basketball for Nebraska, Jacksonville State, and Oregon before playing professionally. Dale Strong
Dale Whitney Strong (born May 8, 1970) is an American politician serving as the U.S. representative for since 2023. His district includes much of North Alabama, including the city of Huntsville. A member of the Republican Party, Strong served on the Madison County Commission starting in 1996, and was its chairman from 2012 to 2023. Toney, Alabama
Toney is an unincorporated community in the northwestern part of Madison County, Alabama, United States. It is part of the Huntsville-Decatur Combined Statistical Area. According to "Appointment of Postmasters, 1832 - September 30, 1971" from the National Archive, the post office was established in 1898. Blanche Rawls Toney was the first post master, and Toney is said to have been named in her honor, probably by James E. Toney, her husband. According to an article from Wed. June 14, 1899 Huntsville Weekly Democrat, as "Toney" the town was established in 1897 through the efforts of "Jim" Toney. By 1899 the railway owned by the "Nashville, Chattanooga & St. Louis" company was running through the village, and there was a depot there.
