Sparkle (Marion EP)
''The Program'' is the second album by Marion, released in 1998 on London Records, and produced by former guitarist of The Smiths, Johnny Marr. The album did not chart in the UK. An expanded two CD set was released by Demon Music Group on 16 September 2016. Background and recording To promote ''This World and Body'', Marion embarked on a 18-month long tour around the world. After its conclusion, they found it difficult to finish songs for their next album due to suffering from fatigue and the absence of time to work on them. Their manager Joe Moss, who had worked with the Smiths, told them that former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr was a fan of theirs after seeing them at a festival in Europe. After expressing an interesting in working with the band, Moss recommended that Marr visit them at their rehearsal space in Manchester to hear the new material they were working on. He was initially only going to provide his opinion; after one afternoon, the band and Marr had worked on all ...

Marion (band)
Marion are an English Britpop band, formed in 1993 in Macclesfield, Cheshire. The band's classic lineup featured frontman Jaime Harding (born Jaime Brian Harding, 27th February 1975), guitarist Phil Cunningham, guitarist Tony Grantham, bassist Julian Phillips and drummer Murad Mousa. The band released two studio albums before splitting up in 1999, due to Harding's heroin addiction which saw him not rehearsing with the band that year. Although originally lumped in with the "Madchester" scene they were later seen more as a northern version of Suede and the band felt that this latter label held them back. In 2006, Harding and Cunningham recruited a new set of musicians and reformed the band. They started working on new material, having played their first live gig together as Marion in seven years on 1 April 2006 in Bath. They followed this up with sold-out shows in Manchester and London in September 2006. The original lineup of the band reformed, minus drummer Murad Mousa who ...

There, Bowie produced and co-wrote Pop's debut studio album, ''The Idiot'', featuring sounds Bowie would explore on his next record. After completing ''The Idiot'', Bowie began recording the first of three collaborations that became known as the Berlin Trilogy with American producer Tony Visconti and English musician Brian Eno. Sessions began at Hérouville's Château d'Hérouville in September 1976 and ended in October at Hansa Studios in West Berlin, where Bowie and Pop had relocated. Grounded in art rock and experimental rock and influenced by German bands such as Tangerine Dream, Neu!, Harmonia and Kraftwerk, ''Low'' features Bowie's first explorations in electronic and ambient styles. Babybird
Babybird are an English rock band formed by songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Stephen Jones, who has been releasing music since 1995. While Jones' early solo work was released under the "Baby Bird" name, the altered "Babybird" was first used to distinguish the full band line-up that has changed often over the years. However, in recent years, Jones has recorded many of the Babybird albums himself, in addition to recording as a solo artist, and under various aliases including Death Of The Neighbourhood, Trucker, Black Reindeer, Deluder, Arthritis Kid and others. Stephen Jones started writing and recording songs at home and his first collection of these demos, '' I Was Born a Man'', was released in July 1995 using the name Baby Bird. He formed a band in order to tour and promote this work. In 1996, Babybird signed to Echo Records and their first single was released in July 1996. Babybird were dropped from their record label in 2000 after their third album, '' Bugged'', had poo ...

You're Gorgeous
"You're Gorgeous" is a song by British musical project Babybird, released as a commercial single on 30 September 1996. Babybird member Stephen Jones wrote the song and co-produced it with Steve Power. It was their only top-10 hit on the UK Singles Chart, peaking at number three, and reached the top 40 in Australia, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand and Sweden. It is the track for which the band is best known. Lyrical meaning The song's lyrics are interpreted to describe the way a photographer exploits his models. The track is often mistaken as a love song due to the way it is initially presented, with one person complimenting the other until it is revealed that the narrator is a female model speaking to the photographer. Critical reception Stephen Thomas Erlewine from ''Allmusic'' (who gave the '' Ugly Beautiful'' album 4.5 stars out of 5) praised "You're Gorgeous" as a "effortlessly catchy" pop single, which "positively radiates with twisted sexuality". A reviewer from ''Mu ...

Britpop
Britpop was a mid-1990s British-based music culture movement that emphasised Britishness. It produced brighter, catchier alternative rock, partly in reaction to the popularity of the darker lyrical themes of the US-led grunge music and to the UK's own shoegaze music scene. The movement brought British alternative rock into the mainstream and formed the backbone of a larger British popular cultural movement, Cool Britannia, which evoked the Swinging Sixties and the British guitar pop of that decade. Britpop was a media-driven focus on bands which emerged from the independent music scene of the early 1990s. Although the term was viewed as a marketing tool, and more of a cultural moment than a musical style or genre, its associated bands typically drew from the British pop music of the 1960s, glam rock and punk rock of the 1970s and indie pop of the 1980s. The most successful bands linked with Britpop were Oasis, Blur, Suede and Pulp, known as the movement's "big four", al ...
