Ivana Spagna (born 16 December 1954), also known simply as Spagna (), is an Italian singer and songwriter. She is best known for her worldwide hit song " Call Me" released in 1987. Career Spagna started her career singing in English and in the early 1980s she provided vocals (with Angela Parisi) and wrote songs for an Italo disco duo called Fun Fun; as well as writing songs and singing for many other dance music projects like Baby's Gang until 1986, when she embarked on a solo career. Spagna's debut single "Easy Lady", released in 1986, was a success across Europe. In 1987, she released " Call Me", which topped the European Hot 100 Singles chart, and reached number two in Italy and on the UK Singles Chart. Call Me (Spagna Song)
"Call Me" is a song by Italian singer Spagna, released in 1987 as the second single from her debut studio album, ''Dedicated to the Moon'' (1987). The music video for the song was filmed in and around Nottingham, England. The majority of the video was filmed in and around the Ritzy nightclub, with the nearby Belvoir Castle also featuring. Unlike its predecessor, "Easy Lady", "Call Me" was also released in North America and Japan. A "U.S. remix" was made by Steve Thompson and Mike Barbiero. "Easy Lady" is a song by Italian singer Spagna, released in 1986 as the lead single from her debut studio album, ''Dedicated to the Moon'' (1987). Although she and her brother, Theo Spagna, had already composed several songs for artists such as Boney M or Fun Fun, Spagna was known by the general public through this song. Fun Fun are an Italian Italo disco band formed in 1983. Their hits included "Colour My Love" and "Baila Bolero". History Producers Dario Raimondi and Alvaro Ugolini teamed up with studio vocalists Antonella Pepe, Angela Parisi and Ivana Spagna to create Fun Fun, a band with a bouncy, high-energy, dancefloor-friendly sound. Their first release, 1983's "Happy Station", was successful in Italy and other parts of Europe thanks to several extended mixes, including the most well-known "Scratch" version. "Happy Station" reached the number one spot in the South African charts. It was also popular in the Chicago House Dance scene and was played by DJs on WBMX. Baby's Gang were an Italian teen pop band formed in Italy in 1983. The group comprised thirteen teenagers fronted by future italo disco star Ivana Spagna. They are mostly known for their hit single "Happy Song". History Baby's Gang was formed in 1983 by producer Larry Pinagnoli and consisted of thirteen teenagers led by vocalist Ivana Spagna. Pinagnoli, Spagna and Otto Bacciocci were responsible for writing the majority of Baby Gang's material. Italo Disco
Italo disco (variously capitalized, and sometimes hyphenated as Italo-disco) is a music genre which originated in Italy in the late 1970s and was mainly produced in the early 1980s. Italo disco evolved from the then-current underground dance, pop, and electronic music, both domestic and foreign (American hi-NRG, French Euro disco) and developed into a diverse genre. The genre employs electronic drums, drum machines, synthesizers, and occasionally vocoders. It is usually sung in English, and to a lesser extent in Italian and Spanish. The Sanremo Music Festival 2006 was the 56th annual Sanremo Music Festival, held at the Teatro Ariston in Sanremo, province of Imperia, between late February and early March 2006 and broadcast by Rai 1. The show was presented by Italian comedian Giorgio Panariello, who also served as the artistic co-director, with showgirls Ilary Blasi and Victoria Cabello. It consisted of a competition between 30 songs, divided into four different categories—Men, Women, Groups and Newcomers. Brian Albert Gordon Auger (born 18 July 1939) is an English jazz rock and rock music keyboardist who specialises in the Hammond organ. Auger has worked with Rod Stewart, Tony Williams, Jimi Hendrix, John McLaughlin, Sonny Boy Williamson, and Eric Burdon. He incorporated jazz, early British pop, R&B, soul music, and rock into his sound. He has been nominated for a Grammy Award.
