Space Invadas is an Australian hip-hop duo made up of Katalyst (Ashley Anderson) and Steve Spacek (Steve White). Their album, ''Soul:Fi'' (22 March 2010), was nominated at the ARIA Music Awards of 2010 for Best Urban Album. It peaked at No. 20 on the ARIA Hitseekers Albums chart. Katalyst (musician)
Katalyst (real name Ashley Anderson) is an Australian DJ and producer. He won awards at the 2002 Australian Dance Music Awards for Best Album and Best Producer. History 1998–2000: Moonrock Anderson initially recorded under the name Moonrock with fellow producer Michael Wright (aka Illpickl). Moonrock released a self-titled album in 1998, and went on to contribute tracks to the internationally renowned Cafe Del Mar compilation albums (Volume 6 (1999) and The Best Of (2003)). 2001–2011: Katalyst As Katalyst, he had his first solo release with a track on the ''Dope on Plastic'' compilation in 2001. That year also saw him form experimental record label, Invada Records, together with Portishead's Geoff Barrow. Steve Spacek
Spacek (also known as Spacek Sound System) is a British electronic music band. Its members are Steve Spacek (Real name Steve White), Ed Spacek, and Morgan Spacek. The group released its debut album, '' Curvatia'' in 2001, followed by 2003's '' Vintage Hi-Tech''. Although primarily performing electronic music, the group also fuses elements of R&B, hip hop, trip hop, broken beat and soul into its anomalistic soundbed. Steve Spacek is brother to UK drum and bass artist dBridge. Biography 1996–2001 The trio was formed in the mid-90s by bassist, vocalist, and songwriter, Steve White but initially was a 5 piece that included Francis Hylton (Now in Incognito) and keyboardist Steve Morgan. The ARIA Music Award for Best Urban Album, was an award presented at the annual ARIA Music Awards, which recognises "the many achievements of Aussie artists across all music genres", since 1987. It was handed out by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA), an organisation whose aim is "to advance the interests of the Australian record industry." Best Urban Album was first presented as Best Urban Release in 2004, for an album or single released by a solo artist or group until 2010, where it changed to Best Urban Album.
