Anthony Sowell
Anthony Edward Sowell (August 19, 1959 – February 8, 2021) was an American serial killer and rapist known as the Cleveland Strangler. He was convicted in 2011 of murdering 11 women whose bodies were discovered at his Cleveland, Ohio, home in 2009. After being sentenced to death for the murders, Sowell died in prison from a terminal illness. Early life Anthony Edward Sowell was born and raised in East Cleveland, Ohio, one of seven children born to single parent Claudia "Gertrude" Garrison. Seven other children belonging to Sowell's sister also lived in the household, having moved in after her death following a chronic illness. According to Sowell's niece, Leona Davis, Garrison subjected them to physical abuse while her own children watched from adjacent rooms. Arnie Sowell
Arnold Milton Sowell (born April 6, 1935) is a former middle distance runner from the United States, who represented his native country at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Australia. He finished fourth in the Men's 800-meter race. Life The son of a Pittsburgh city council maintenance man, Sowell was a 1953 graduate of Schenley High School. As a student at the University of Pittsburgh, he became a prize-winning athlete while a member of the Pitt Panthers track and field team, taking the NCAA's 880-yard titles in 1954 and 1956. In 1956, he also won the annual Charles C. Hartwig award. After leaving college with a business degree in 1957, he married fellow Pitt graduate, Barbara Peace, who had earned her degree in arts and sciences. He then embarked on a career in the military. Bobby Sowell
Robert G. Lee Sowell (born July 8, 1947) is an American musician, pianist and composer. He spent much of his early years playing rockabilly piano in the late 1950s, playing organ in rock-and-roll bands in the 1960s and playing piano in numerous country music bands from the 1970s to the 1990s. He was a Mid-South Fair winner in 1966 and was inducted into the Rockabilly Hall of Fame in 2002. In 1994, he went out as a solo artist. As a pianist and composer, Sowell has recorded eight albums, crossing many genres of music, from jazz, pop, rock and roll, honky tonk and blues to country music, gospel and easy listening. Dawn Sowell
Dawn Sowell (born 27 March 1966) is an American former sprinter who ran the fastest times in the 100 meters and 200 meters in 1989, with 10.78 secs and 22.04 secs. The 10.78 clocking made her the third-fastest woman of all-time at that time, and still ranks her 16th on the world all-time list (as of 2021). Early life Dawn was born in Philadelphia, one of seven children, the daughter of an electrician. Her mother worked three jobs simultaneously, until moving to a career in real estate. Jerald Monye Sowell (born January 21, 1974) is a former American football fullback. He played ten seasons in the National Football League (NFL) with the New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He played college football at Tulane. Playing career He holds the record for the longest play in Tulane football history, breaking off a 98-yard run against the defending national champions Alabama in 1993. Although Tulane lost the game 31–17, Sowell recorded 138 rushing yards to become the first player to run for over 100 yards against Alabama since Florida's Errict Rhett in 1991. Sowell was drafted with the 30th pick in the 7th round in the 1997 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers. Shaunna F. Sowell is an engineer who was Vice President and Manager of DFAB water fabrication facilities for Texas Instruments. Education Sowell was awarded a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from New Mexico State University. She also received a Bachelor of Science in education from the University of Texas at Austin. Career In 1985, Sowell began work as a project engineer for Texas Instruments, in the defense division.
