The National Olympic Committee of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (russian: link=no, Национальный Олимпийский комитет Союза Советских Социалистических Республик – НОК СССР) was the Economy of the Soviet Union, government-funded organization representing the Soviet Union in the International Olympic Committee. Alexandr Ragulin
Alexander Pavlovich "Rags" Ragulin (russian: Александр Павлович Рагулин; 5 May 1941 – 17 November 2004) was a Russian ice hockey player. He is considered one of the best defensemen in Soviet ice hockey history, winning three Olympic gold medals and ten world titles. Playing career Ragulin began training in ice hockey in 1957 with Khimik Voskresensk, where he played with his brothers Anatoli and Mikhail. In 1962 he moved to powerhouse CSKA Moscow and played with that team until retiring in 1973. With CSKA he won nine Soviet titles (1963–66, 1968, 1970–73) and five European Champions Cups (1969–73). During his 13 years with the Soviet national team, Ragulin played 239 matches and scored 29 goals. The men's ice hockey tournament at the 1968 Winter Olympics held in Grenoble, France, was the 11th Olympic Championship, also serving as the 35th World Championships and the 46th European Championships. This was the last Olympic tournament to include the World and European titles. Games were held at the Palais des Sports. The Soviet Union won their third Olympic gold medal, eighth World Championship and twelfth European Championship. Czechoslovakia won the silver, followed by Canada taking the bronze. Veniamin Veniaminovich Alexandrov (russian: Вениамин Вениаминович Александров; 18 April 1937 – 6 November 1991) was a Soviet ice hockey player who played in the Soviet Hockey League. He played for CSKA Moscow. He was inducted into the Russian and Soviet Hockey Hall of Fame in 1963. After playing exhibition matches in North America in 1957, Alexandrov was put on the negotiation list of the Chicago Black Hawks, a team in the National Hockey League. Vyacheslav Ivanovich Starshinov (russian: Вячеслав Иванович Старшинов; born May 6, 1940 in Moscow, Soviet Union) is a Russian former ice hockey player, coach and executive. Starshinov played in the Soviet Hockey League for HC Spartak Moscow, scoring 405 goals in 540 league games. He led the league in goals in 1966-67, 1967–68, and 1968–69. Starshinov also scored 149 goals in 182 international games with the Soviet national team, and was named top forward at the IIHF World Championships in 1965.
