Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) is a private Christian university in Waxahachie, Texas. SAGU is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and officially endorsed by the Assemblies of God USA. The university offers associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degrees in a variety of liberal arts programs, as well as programs in Bible and church ministries. History The Merger Southwestern Assemblies of God University began life as three separate Bible schools. Baytown, Texas
Baytown is a city in the U.S. state of Texas, within Harris and Chambers counties. Located in the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land metropolitan statistical area, it lies on the northern side of the Galveston Bay complex near the outlets of the San Jacinto River and Buffalo Bayou. Michael David Evans (born June 30, 1947) is an American author, journalist, and commentator. Evans has written books and has provided analysis and commentary on Middle East affairs. He founded and serves as the head of many politically conservative Christian organizations. Early life Evans was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, on June 30, 1947, to a non-practicing Jewish mother whose parents were immigrants from the Soviet Union. His father was a violent alcoholic and wife beater. At age 11, Evans objected to his father beating his mother, and was assaulted; when he recovered, he had what he describes as a dramatic encounter with Jesus Christ, who promised him a future. Gary Wayne Elkins (born March 15, 1955), is a businessman from Houston, Texas, who is a Republican former member of the Texas House of Representatives. From 1995, with the advent of the George W. Bush gubernatorial administration, until 2019, Elkins represented District 135 in Harris County. Elkins won his eleventh term in the state House in the general election held on November 4, 2014, when he defeated Democrat Moiz A. Abbas of Houston. Lumpkins Stadium is a stadium in Waxahachie, Texas. It is primarily used for American football, and is the home field of the Waxahachie Indians. The stadium is named for Stuart B. Lumpkins, a former superintendent of Waxahachie Independent School District. In 2011, the stadium received renovations that were funded through a city bond. In addition to serving as the home field for the Waxahachie Indians football team, Lumpkins also hosts Waxahachie Indian soccer and an annual track and field meet.
