Southport Tigers
Initially formed as the Southport Football Club the Southport Tigers compete in both the junior and senior Gold Coast Rugby League competitions. The club is based at Owen Park in Southport, Queensland, Australia. History There has been a long history of Southport being represented in Rugby league dating back to the 1930s. They were then known as the Southport Wanderers. In 1931, the Southport Wanderers were the A Grade undefeated Premiers winning the Plunket Cup in that year. The Southport Wanderers Football Club A Grade side were the South Coast League Premiers and winners of the Mathias Cup in 1939. Southport also played local competition in the late forties and early fifties. The Southport Wanderers also had south coast representative teams in the Brisbane Rugby League Premiership competition. The Gold Coast Rugby League (also known as the Kevin Bycroft Cup) is a rugby league football competition based in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. It is under the administration of the Queensland Rugby League through the South East Queensland Division, which also administers the Brisbane and Ipswich competitions. The Gold Coast Rugby League Premiership consists of ten clubs, competing in three senior leagues; A-Grade, Reserves and Colts (under-19s). The Burleigh Bears are an Australian professional rugby league football club based in Gold Coast, Australia. They compete in Queensland's top rugby league competition, the Queensland Cup. David Boyd (rugby League)
David Boyd (born 13 May 1966) is a former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1980s and 1990s. He played for the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs from 1986 to 1987, he was part of the inaugural Newcastle Knights squad from 1988 to 1993 and then finished his career at the Western Reds from 1995 to 1996. Playing career Boyd made his debut for Canterbury-Bankstown in Round 12, 1986. Boyd played in the club's 4-2 grand final loss against Parramatta, with his high tackle on Parramatta's Ray Price resulting in a penalty goal for the Eels that proved to be their winning points.
