Southern United, previously known as Otago United, is a semi-professional football club based in Dunedin, New Zealand. Founded in 2004, they play their home games at the Logan Park and Forsyth Barr Stadium. It is the southernmost football club playing in a top division league in the world. History Southern United was formed in 2004 as Otago United, competing in the New Zealand Football Championship. Based in Dunedin, Southern United, the sole representative from its federation, was one of eight teams competing in the league at the time. The club had 21 feeder clubs and 4 associations from within the geographic area from Timaru south to Invercargill. Lutz Pfannenstiel, the only player to play professionally on every FIFA continent, once called Otago United home. Logan Park, Dunedin
Logan Park is a sporting venue in the city of Dunedin, New Zealand. It lies on land reclaimed from the former Lake Logan. Features The park contains both Football and rugby grass and artificial pitches, known as both Dunedin Artificial Turf and Logan Park Turf, two artificial hockey turfs, bowling green, and tennis courts, and part of the park is now occupied by two stadia, the University Oval stadium, home of the University of Otago Rugby Football Club and Otago Cricket, and the Caledonian Ground, which is an athletics venue and also the city's main soccer venue. The NZFC 2008–09 season is the fifth season of the New Zealand Football Championship competition. The previous seasons champion, Waitakere United, and second-ranked club Auckland City FC will also be competing in the 2008-09 O-League which will run alongside the NZFC season. 2013–14 New Zealand Football Championship
The New Zealand Football Championship's 2013–14 season (known as the ASB Premiership for sponsorship reasons) will be the tenth season of the NZFC since its establishment in 2004. The home and away season will begin on 10 November 2013 with the final scheduled to be on 16 March 2014. Auckland City and Waitakere United will represent the ASB Premiership in the 2013–14 OFC Champions League after finishing Champions and Runners-up respectively in the 2012–13 competition. Two franchises have had changes to the clubs branding for this season, with Otago United changing to Southern United and Waikato FC changing to Waibop United. Caversham AFC
Caversham is an association football club based in Dunedin, New Zealand. They compete in the ODT FootballSouth Premier League. They are named for the suburb of Caversham to the southwest of Dunedin's city centre, best known for its former international sports venue Carisbrook. Caversham AFC, however, are based not there but at Tonga Park, located one kilometre to the south in the suburb of Forbury. Club history Caversham AFC was founded in 1931, and has been based at Tonga Park throughout its history. Caversham's premier team home strip is a white jersey with wide red band, white shorts, and red socks. The away strip is forest green shirt, greenish-white shorts, and forest green socks. Until 2009, their home strip was a red shirt with a broad horizontal black band edged in white, red shorts with a similar band across the left leg, and black socks.
