Southern Sharks
The Southern Sydney Sharks is a Rugby league team that competed in the 2008 Jim Beam Cup competition, this was their only season in the competition to date, with the team renaming themselves as the Southern Districts Rebels before folding the following season. The Sharks home ground was Sutherland Oval. In the Sharks first and only season, they managed to win six matches, their best performance being a 41-12 win over Chester Hill Rhinos, their leading try scorer was Sharlon Taki with 18, Mitch Mahon was the leading point scorer with 9, they were coached by former NRL player Luke Goodwin. Sutherland Oval
Sutherland Oval is a sporting ground, situated in Sutherland, New South Wales. It has been used for professional Rugby League matches, as well as for lower tiered Soccer and Rugby Union matches over the years. Ground Usage In the late 1950s, the Sutherland Sharks FC football (soccer) club played at the ground, before moving to Seymour Shaw Park, in the NSW Premier League competition. In the NSWRL competition, the Cronulla Sutherland Sharks club used this ground as their home ground. The club entered the national competition in 1967, and held their first two seasons at this venue (in 1967 and 1968), before moving to Endeavour Field, where they have stayed ever since the move in 1969. In 2008, the Southern Sharks played at this ground, playing in the Jim Beam Cup, a lower tiered rugby league competition. New South Wales Cup
The NSW Cup, currently known as the Knock-On Effect NSW Cup for sponsorship reasons, is a rugby league competition for clubs in New South Wales. The competition has a history dating back to the NSWRFL's origins in 1908, starting off as a reserve grade competition, and is now the premier open age competition in the state. The NSW Cup was the Reserve Grade/Presidents Cup/First Division from 1908 until 2002, and the NSWRL Premier League from 2003 to 2007, the NSW Cup from 2008 to 2015, the Intrust Super Premiership NSW from 2016 to 2018, the Canterbury Cup NSW from 2019 to 2020. The New South Wales Cup, along with the Queensland Cup, acts as a feeder competition to the National Rugby League premiership. Ron Massey Cup
The Ron Massey Cup (formerly known as the Bundaberg Red Cup and Jim Beam Cup) is a semi-professional development level rugby league competition in New South Wales (NSW), Australia, run jointly by the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) and the Country Rugby League of New South Wales (CRL). The competition is run concurrently with the National Rugby League (NRL). It currently comprises 13 teams drawn from the Sydney metropolitan area. The competition is named after Ron Massey, a former rugby league coach. Ron Massey died 19 September 2016. The competition is an expanded version of the former Metropolitan Cup and Second Division competitions. The competition was renamed the Bundaberg Red Cup after the 2008 season (the last Jim Beam Cup season), after Bundaberg replaced former sponsor Jim Beam. Chester Hill Rhinos
The Chester Hill Rhinos were a rugby league team based in the suburb of Chester Hill, New South Wales, Chester Hill in Sydney's south-west. From 2007 to 2009 the club fielded a side in the semi-professional NSWRL Jim Beam Cup competition in NSW, Australia. They folded in 2009. Their colours were blue, gold and white. Luke Goodwin
Luke Goodwin (born 18 January 1973) is a former professional rugby league footballer who played in Australia and England and represented Aotearoa Māori in 2000. Background He is the son of rugby league legend, Edward 'Lord Ted' Goodwin who represented Australia. He is also the elder brother of fellow players, Bronx, Bryson and Grayson. Playing career Goodwin played in both Australia (NRL - Canberra Raiders '91, Penrith Panthers '92, Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs '93-'95, Western Reds '96, Western Suburbs Magpies '99) and England (Super League - Oldham Bears '97, London Broncos '98).
