Southern California Condors
The Southern California Condors are an International Fight League team based in Orange County, California. Coached by MMA legend Marco Ruas, the Condors were one of four new teams established at the beginning of the 2007 season. The Condors have an assistant coach, female MMA star Debi Purcell. On May 5, 2007 Condor's outstanding Middleweight, Jeremy Williams was found dead of an apparent suicide. Record/Roster The Condors are 8-7 as of May 2007 in team competition. Marco Ruas
Marco Antônio de Lima Ruas (; born 23 January 1961) is a Brazilian former mixed martial arts fighter, Submission Wrestler, Kickboxer and instructor. Ruas was the UFC 7 Tournament Champion, and also competed for the World Vale Tudo Championship (WVC), PRIDE Fighting Championships and the International Fight League, where he head-coached the Southern California Condors. Ruas is a pioneer of Mixed martial arts, having fought in a high-profile Vale Tudo bout in 1984, and later winning the UFC 7 tournament in 1995, begin the second Brazilian UFC champion and fourth overall of the organization. Debi Purcell
Deborah Ann Purcell is a retired American female mixed martial artist. She was formerly an assistant coach to the Southern California Condors of the International Fight League. Early life Purcell was involved in cheerleading, dance and competitive gymnastics throughout her early teens. She later quit gymnastics and took up Martial Arts. At the age of 17, she was introduced to Tae Kwon Do and this later introduced her to kickboxing, boxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. She is actively involved in supporting women's MMA, having set up Fightergirls.com and the WMAA (Women's Martial Arts Association), along with being a world-class competitor herself. Purcell also started Fightergirls, her own extremely successful women's fitness and MMA apparel line, in which she designs every piece personally. Purcell signed a three-fight deal with Elite XC. Justin Levens
Justin Robert Levens (April 18, 1980 – December 17, 2008) was an American mixed martial artist. A professional competitor from 2004 until 2007, he competed for the UFC, the WEC, the Palace Fighting Championship, and for the Southern California Condors of the IFL. Levens and his wife died from gunshot wounds in mid-December 2008. The incident is a murder-suicide, according to law enforcement officials. Background Levens grew up poor in the Philadelphia housing projects, as a child with ADHD, and was on his own from age 15. After his parents divorced when Levens was four, he eventually moved to Newport Beach, California, where he learned to channel his aggressive energy from into organized fighting. Antoine Jaoude
Antoine Jaoude (born January 5, 1977) is Brazilian wrestler and a former mixed martial artist. He fought for the Southern California Condors in the, now defunct, International Fight League. His brother, Adrian, wrestled in WWE under the ring name Arturo Ruas. Bio Jaoude was born in Brazil to a Lebanese father and a Brazilian mother. Six months after his birth, his parents went with him to Lebanon to originally visit his paternal family for a short time. However, due to the civil war that broke out while they were there, they were only able to return to Brazil more than 13 years later, when he was 14. Kazuhiro Hamanaka
is a Japanese mixed martial arts, mixed martial artist. He fought for the Tokyo Sabres in the International Fight League. Career Hamanaka began his mixed martial arts career in 2003 with a victory over Nino Schembri, Antonio Schembri at PRIDE 26.
