Richard Souther
Richard Douglas Trowbridge Souther is an American keyboardist who played on several albums of contemporary Christian and chant-based music. He also placed an album in the Top 10 of ''Billboard's'' New Age Albums chart. In the mid to late 1970s, Souther was a member of A Band Called David, which supplied backing music for the vocal group the 2nd Chapter of Acts. As part of that group, Souther played on all three of 2nd Chapter's albums. During this same period, he also appeared on several religious-themed records by Barry McGuire, Phil Keaggy, Annie Herring and Jamie Owens-Collins. In the mid 1980s, Souther recorded four instrumental albums for the newly-established Meadowlark Records. Two of these—''Heirborne'' (MLR 7004, 1985) and ''InnerMission'' (MLR 7012, 1986)—were performed on synthesizers and released under his first and last names. John Souther (March 1, 1816 – September 12, 1911) was the founder of Globe Locomotive Works, an American steam locomotive manufacturing company. In his obituary published in the Newton, Massachusetts, ''Town Crier'', he is credited with designing the pattern for the fence around Boston Common The Boston Common (also known as the Common) is a public park in downtown Boston, Massachusetts. Calvin Souther Fuller
Calvin Souther Fuller (May 25, 1902 – October 28, 1994) was an American physical chemist at AT&T Bell Laboratories where he worked for 37 years from 1930 to 1967. Fuller was part of a team in basic research that found answers to physical challenges. He helped develop synthetic rubber during World War II, he was involved in early experiments of zone melting, he is credited with devising the method of transistor production yielding diffusion transistors, he produced some of the first solar cells with high efficiency, and he researched polymers and their applications. Early life Calvin Fuller was born in Chicago 25 May 1902 to Julius Quincy and Bessie Souther Fuller. Jack Gordon Souther (April 25, 1924 – June 1, 2014) was an American-born Canadian geologist, volcanologist, professor and engineer. He contributed significantly to the early understanding of recent volcanic activity in the Canadian Cordillera. Many of his publications continue to be regarded as classics in their field, even now several decades after they were written. Souther Fell is a fell in the English Lake District. It stands to the south of Mungrisdale village in the Northern Fells. It is most famous for the appearance of a "spectral army", said to have been seen marching along its crest on Midsummer's Day, 1745. No such force was in the District at the time. Topography Souther Fell is the eastern extremity of Blencathra, a continuation of the arm that runs down from the summit over Doddick Fell and Scales Fell. A smooth slope falls eastward from Scales Fell to the col of Mousthwaite Comb at . The ridge then turns northeast for two miles along the summit of Souther Fell. Mousthwaite Comb is a geographical oddity. To the north of the depression, running eastward, is the River Glenderamackin. To the south of the col, flowing westward, is the same river. Souther Field
Souther Field is a former military airfield, located Northeast of Americus, Georgia. It was one of thirty-two Air Service training camps established after the United States entry into World War I in April 1917. After World War II, the property was sold to the city of Americus. Most of the airfield was developed into a civil airport. In 1948 a portion of Souther Field was chartered for the South Georgia Trade and Vocational School (later South Georgia Technical College). History The base was named Souther Field, being named after Henry Souther, of Hartford, Connecticut. Souther was head of the Aircraft Engineering Division of the Air Service when he died in August 1917 after a brief illness contracted while acting as director of Langley Field, Virginia. The John Souther House is a historic house at 43 Fairmont Street in Newton, Massachusetts. The -story wood-frame house was built c. 1883 and is a well-preserved high style Queen Anne Victorian house. Its basically rectangular shape is rendered distinctive by varied size and placement of gable dormers, projecting sections, a turret, and rounded wall sections. Decoratively cut shingles are used to add texture to wall surfaces, the porch is ornately decorated. The property includes a period carriage house.
