South Whizz Dome
South Whizz Dome is a granite dome in the Tuolumne Meadows area of Yosemite National Park. South Whizz Dome is a bit south, of Cathedral Creek, which has its source, near Cathedral Peak. South Whizz Dome Dome is north of both Medlicott Dome and Pywiack Dome, both of which are south of California State Route 120, which runs through Tuolumne Meadows to Tioga Pass. Pywiack Dome
Pywiack Dome is a prominent 600 foot granite dome in Yosemite National Park, located north-east of Tenaya Lake, west of Tuolumne Meadows and from the Tioga Road. It is quite near Harlequin Dome, and North and South Whizz Domes are north. Josiah Whitney the head of California Geological Survey wrote in 1863 about Pywiack Dome in ''Geology'': Climbing The west face of the formation is popular with rock climbers and has several multi-pitch slab climbs easily visible from the Tioga Road. Tioga Road (120)
State Route 120 (SR 120) is a state highway in the central part of California, connecting the San Joaquin Valley with the Sierra Nevada, Yosemite National Park, and the Mono Lake area. Its western terminus is at Interstate 5 in Lathrop, and its eastern terminus at U.S. Route 6 in Benton. While the route is signed as a contiguous route through Yosemite, the portion inside the park is federally maintained and is not included in the state route logs. Polly Dome
Polly Dome is a prominent granite dome rising above the northwest side of Tenaya Lake and Tioga Road in the Yosemite high country. The dome, more than 3 kilometers (~2 miles) long, is a substantially intact mass of granitic rock that has withstood heavy glaciation and exfoliation. Forest clings to the less-steep parts of its north and west slopes. The southwest end of Polly Dome consists of the Stately Pleasure Dome, lower than Polly Dome, but rising very steeply from the shore of the lake. Daff Dome
Daff Dome or DAFF Dome is a prominent granite dome in Yosemite National Park, west of Tuolumne Meadows and from the Tioga Road. It is southeast of Doda Dome, and is near both West Cottage Dome and East Cottage Dome; it is also near Lamb Dome. Since the dome was never officially named, the DAFF Dome name was adopted in the 1960s as an acronym of "Dome Across From Fairview" Dome. Tioga Pass
Tioga Pass is a mountain pass in the Sierra Nevada mountain range of California. State Route 120 runs through it, and serves as the eastern entry point for Yosemite National Park, at the Tioga Pass Entrance Station. Medlicott Dome
Medlicott Dome is a prominent granite dome in Yosemite high country. Cathedral Peak (California)
Cathedral Peak is part of the Cathedral Range, a mountain range in the south-central portion of Yosemite National Park in eastern Mariposa and Tuolumne Counties. The range is an offshoot of the Sierra Nevada. The peak which lends its name to the range derives its name from its cathedral-shaped peak, which was formed by glacial activity: the peak remained uneroded above the glaciers in the Pleistocene.
