South Westminster is an industrial neighbourhood in the Whalley town centre of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, located on the Fraser River south of the city of New Westminster. Bridgeview, Surrey
Bridgeview is a neighbourhood in the Whalley town centre of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, that stretches south from the Fraser River to King George Boulevard. The neighbourhood consists of all the low-lying area between the Port Mann Bridge in the east and the Pattullo Bridge in the west. History In the 1970s, dykes were constructed to prevent the neighbourhood from flooding. Water levels from prior floods had reached and in 1894 and 1948, respectively. Residents of the neighbourhood fought the municipality of Surrey in the mid-1970s to build proper sewers as septic tanks would often overflow into drainage ditches. Then-mayor Bill Vander Zalm and other municipal councillors resisted the idea as the municipality had industrial plans for the area. Scott Road Station
Scott Road is an elevated station on the Expo Line of Metro Vancouver's SkyTrain rapid transit system. The station is located near the south end of the Pattullo Bridge in the South Westminster neighbourhood of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. Brownsville, British Columbia
Brownsville was a former community in what is now the City of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. Also known as South Westminster, it was located where the city ran a small ferry across the Fraser River, today approximately where the east footing of the Skytrain bridge is, this was also the former site of qiqéyt (Qayqayt), one of the main summer villages of the Kwantlen people and later, also the Musqueam people History The town was named after Ebenezer Brown, who owned property in the area and had come from England in 1858-1859 during the Fraser Gold Rush.
