South Terrebonne High School
South Terrebonne High School is a public secondary school in Bourg, Louisiana, United States. It is a part of the Terrebonne Parish School District. South Terrebonne High currently serves the coastal communities of Bourg, Chauvin, Montegut, Pointe-aux-Chenes, and the eastern part of incorporated Houma in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana. History It was the second high school built in Terrebonne Parish after the parish's sole high school, Terrebonne High School, became overcrowed with an influx of students from the lower areas of the parish. The school was designed by the architectural firm of Curtis and Davis, who later designed the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans. South Terrebonne High was officially opened in 1961, with the first graduating class commencing in 1962. Clarence Verdin (born June 14, 1963) is a former American football wide receiver and kick returner in the National Football League (NFL) for the Washington Redskins, Indianapolis Colts and Atlanta Falcons. He also was a member of the Houston Gamblers in the United States Football League and the BC Lions in the Canadian Football League. He played college football at the University of Southwestern Louisiana Early years Verdin attended South Terrebonne High School. He accepted a football scholarship from the University of Southwestern Louisiana. Professional career Verdin was selected by the Houston Gamblers in the 17th round (356th overall) of the 1984 USFL Draft. Phillip Anthony Livas (born April 24, 1989) is a former American football wide receiver. In 2011, he was signed by the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2011 before being cut before the start of the regular season, and the Omaha Nighthawks of the United Football League before being released later in the season. He signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in October 2012, but has since been removed from the roster. He played college football at Louisiana Tech. The Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) is the agency that regulates and promotes the interscholastic athletic competitions of all high schools in the state of Louisiana.
