South Of Suva
''South of Suva'' is a 1922 American silent drama film starring Mary Miles Minter and directed by Frank Urson. It was adapted by Fred Myton from a story by Ewart Adamson. As with many of Minter's features, it is thought to be a lost film. Plot As described in various film magazine reviews, Phyllis Latimer (Minter) is sailing to Suva in the Fiji Islands to join her husband Sydney (Long), whom she has not seen since their marriage three years previously. She is travelling with Pauline Leonard (Bryson), who is to meet with her ward John Webster (Bowers) on Suva, but Pauline instead chooses to accompany a man she has fallen in love with on board. When Phyllis arrives at her husband's plantation, she finds that Sydney has degenerated into a brutal drunk and surrounded himself with native women. Frank Urson
Frank John Urson (March 21, 1887 – August 17, 1928) was an American silent film Film director, director and cinematographer from Chicago, Illinois. Originally a photographer, he moved on to cinematography and film directing for the Thanhouser Company in New Rochelle, New York. He is also credited with acting in one film, ''Her Gallant Knights'', which starred William Garwood in 1913. Urson directed ''Changing Husbands''. He is perhaps best known for his 1927 film ''Chicago (1927 film), Chicago'', produced by Cecil B. DeMille. Biography He was born on March 21, 1887, in Chicago, Illinois. Winifred Bryson
Winifred Bryson (born Winifred Brison; December 20, 1892 – August 20, 1987) was an American actress of the stage and of silent films. Biography Winifred Bryson was born Winifred Brison on December 20, 1892, in Los Angeles, the daughter of Oliver A. Brison (1871–1922) and Annie Tilley (1870–1964). Bryson began to perform publicly in 1914, initially in the musical comedy stage, and in the drama ''Regeneration'' with Bert Lytell. Although her first film was '' Peer Gynt'' (1915), her real transition to motion pictures was in the film '' A Heart to Let'' (1921). In total, Bryson acted in 19 films, her final screen appearance being in ''Adoration'' (1928). Her career ended with the advent of talkies. She was married twice, first to actor Warner Baxter from 1918 until his death in 1951, and then to Ferdinand H. Manger. Winifred Bryson died on August 20, 1987. Frederick Alvin Kelsey (August 20, 1884 – September 2, 1961) was an American actor, film director, and screenwriter. Kelsey directed one- and two-reel films for Universal Film Manufacturing Company. He appeared in more than 400 films between 1911 and 1958, often playing policemen or detectives. He also directed 37 films between 1914 and 1920. Kelsey was caricatured as the detective in the 1943 MGM cartoon ''Who Killed Who?'' directed by Tex Avery. He was born in Sandusky, Ohio and died at the Motion Picture Country Home in Hollywood, California Hollywood is a neighborhood in the central region of Los Angeles, California.
