South Lyon High School
South Lyon High School is a public high school located in South Lyon, Michigan, United States, and is part of South Lyon Community Schools. Its cross-town rival is South Lyon East High School. History The South Lyon Union School District was formed in 1876. In 1915, South Lyon Union High School was constructed on the same site at Liberty and Warren. It served as the district school for many years and was later used as the School Administration Building until it was demolished in 1998. In 1955, a new high school was built for the district - Bartlett Elementary. Another new High School was established in 1969 (now Millennium Middle School). In 1990, South Lyon High School moved to its current location, at 11 mile and Pontiac Trail. In 1999, South Lyon High School received an addition, that included 22 classrooms, an auxiliary gym, and a new wrestling room. Danny Spanos
Danny Spanos (also known as George Spannos) was an American rock drummer, best known for his 1983 EP "Passion in the Dark" which produced the Mainstream Rock Tracks hit single "Hot Cherie" in Mainstream Rock chart in the summer of 1983. He also had songs on the soundtracks of two movies in 1983–84, '' Up the Creek'' used his song "Passion in the Dark", and the Tom Cruise movie '' All the Right Moves'' used his song "This Could Be Our Last Chance". David Allen Brandon (born May 15, 1952) is an American businessman. He is the former chief executive officer of Toys "R" Us. From 1999 to 2009, he served as the president and chief executive officer of Domino's, and from 2010 to 2014, he was the athletic director at the University of Michigan. International Thespian Society
The International Thespian Society (ITS) is an honor society for high school and middle school theatre students. It is a division of the Educational Theatre Association. Thespian troupes serve students in grades 9–12; Junior Thespian troupes serve students in grades 6 through 8. A few famous ITS alumni include Tom Hanks, Val Kilmer, James Marsters, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Stephen Schwartz. Festivals are held annually at the state and national levels. Each June the organization holds the International Thespian Festival. For 25 years it was held at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. As of 2019 it is being held at Indiana University-Bloomington where the first ITF was held in 1941. Membership currently stands at approximately 139,000 student members across 5,000 schools.
