South Lansing is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Lansing, Tompkins County, New York, United States. The CDP includes the hamlets of South Lansing, Terpening Corners, and Asbury. The area was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census. The community is in northern Tompkins County, southeast of the geographic center of the town of Lansing. It is the location of the Lansing Town Hall. New York State Route 34 passes through the community, leading north to Auburn and south through the village of Lansing to Ithaca. The United States census of 2020 was the twenty-fourth decennial United States census. Census Day, the reference day used for the census, was April 1, 2020. Fleming is a town in Cayuga County, New York, United States. The population was 2,475 at the 2020 census. The name is that of General George Fleming, an early settler. Fleming is at the northern end of Owasco Lake, south of Auburn. History The area of Fleming was first settled ''circa'' 1790. The town was formed in 1823 from part of the town of Aurelius. Groton is a village in Tompkins County, New York, United States. The population was 2,363 at the 2010 census. The Village of Groton is near the center of the Town of Groton and is northeast of Ithaca and west of Cortland. History The village lies within the former Central New York Military Tract and was first settled by outsiders around 1795. Before then, the only purpose of the land surrounding Groton was to host the winding trails of the Native Americans that once lived in central New York. New York State Route 38 (NY 38) is a north–south state highway in the Finger Lakes region of New York in the United States. Its southern terminus is at an intersection with NY 96 in the town of Owego in Tioga County. The northern terminus is at a junction with NY 104A in the town of Sterling in Cayuga County. New York State Route 34 (NY 34) is a north–south New York state route located in Central New York. Its southern terminus is at the Pennsylvania state line in the village of Waverly, where it connects to Pennsylvania Route 199 and meets I-86/ NY 17. Its northern terminus is at NY 104, outside the village of Hannibal.
