South Hampstead (ward)
South Hampstead is a ward in the London Borough of Camden, in the United Kingdom. The ward covers the area of the same name and was first used for the 2022 Camden London Borough Council election, electing three councillors to Camden Council. Most of its area was previously in Swiss Cottage ward, which was abolished at the same time, although sections of Kilburn and West Hampstead wards have also been incorporated under the new boundaries. In 2018, the ward had an electorate of 8,904. The Boundary Commission projects the electorate to rise to 8,927 by 2025. South Hampstead ward covers the part of the area known as "the gardens", bordered by West End Lane, Belsize Road, Finchley Road and Broadhurst Gardens. 2022 Camden London Borough Council Election
The 2022 Camden London Borough Council election took place on 5 May 2022. All 55 members of Camden London Borough Council were elected. The elections took place alongside local elections in the other London boroughs and elections to local authorities across the United Kingdom. In the previous election in 2018, the Labour Party maintained its control of the council, winning 43 out of the 54 seats with the Conservative Party forming the primary opposition with seven of the remaining seats. The Liberal Democrats and Green Party were also elected to the council, with three seats and one seat respectively. The 2022 election took place under new election boundaries, which increased the number of councillors to 55. Labour held control of the council, winning 47 seats. The Liberal Democrats overtook the Conservatives as the second-largest group, winning four seats. South Hampstead is part of the London Borough of Camden in inner north London. It is commonly defined as the area between West End Lane in the west, the Chiltern Main Line (south), Broadhurst Gardens north and north-west followed by a non-road line demarcating the south slopes of Hampstead village, west of Belsize Park, and north and west of the usually narrowly defined Swiss Cottage neighbourhood. West End Lane
West End Lane is a street in inner north-west London, England (grid reference TQ2585) that runs for about one mile between Kilburn High Road to the south and Finchley Road to the north. Located in the London Borough of Camden, and the NW6 postal district, the street winds through West Hampstead with a mix of residential and commercial buildings. The three West Hampstead stations are all located on the road at the centre of the district of that name. In the north-east (on the other side of Finchley Road) it today becomes Frognal Lane, although this stretch was once included as part of West End Lane. It also marks the western boundary of South Hampstead. It is not connected to the West End of Central London, which is around three miles to the south-east. Most of the street is a bus route. Finchley Road
Finchley Road is a designated arterial road in north-west London, England. The Finchley Road starts in St John's Wood near central London as part of the A41; its southern half is a major dual carriageway with high traffic levels often frequented by lorries and long-distance coaches as it connects central London, via the A41 Hendon Way, to the M1 motorway at Brent Cross and other roads at that interchange. Its northern half, which dissects away from the A41 and is designated as the A598, runs through suburban areas via the centre of Golders Green to Henlys Corner, where the road north of it leads to Finchley, from which Finchley Road gets its name from.
