South Eastern Circuit
The Circuit Court ( ga, An Chúirt Chuarda) of Ireland is an intermediate level court of local and limited jurisdiction which hears both civil and criminal matters. On the criminal side the Circuit Court hears criminal matters tried on indictment with a judge and jury, except for certain serious crimes which are tried in either the Central Criminal Court or the Special Criminal Court. On the civil side the Circuit Court has a considerable parallel jurisdiction — including equitable remedies — with the High Court but normally cannot award damages of more than €75,000. The Circuit Court also hears '' de novo'' appeals from the District Court in both civil and criminal matters. The Court of Criminal Appeal ( ga, An Chúirt Achomhairc Choiriúil) was an appellate court for criminal cases in the law of the Republic of Ireland. It existed from 1924 until 2014, when it was superseded by the Court of Appeal, which can hear appeals for all types of case. Raymond Groarke
Raymond Groarke (born 1952) is an Irish judge who was a judge of the Circuit Court between 1996 and 2022. He was the President of the Circuit Court from June 2012 to July 2019. He was previously a barrister. Early life Groarke was born in 1952. He was educated at Clongowes Wood College, University College Dublin and the King's Inns. He was called to the Bar in 1973.
