South Dakota Elections, 2014
A general election was held in the U.S. state of South Dakota on November 4, 2014. All of South Dakota's executive officers were up for election as well as a United States Senate seat and South Dakota's at-large seat in the United States House of Representatives. Primary elections were held on June 3, 2014. Governor and Lieutenant Governor Attorney General Incumbent Republican Attorney General Marty Jackley ran for re-election to a second full term in office. The Democratic Party ran no candidate for this office, which left Chad Haber of the Libertarian Party to be Jackley's only challenger. Libertarian Party Of South Dakota
The Libertarian Party of South Dakota is the South Dakota affiliate of the national Libertarian Party. Background The Libertarian Party of South Dakota aims to promote Libertarian policies and support Libertarian candidates throughout the state. According to the secretary of state's office, there were approximately 1,930 registered Libertarian voters in South Dakota as of April 2020. Jason M. Gant (born December 18, 1976) is the former Secretary of State of South Dakota. A member of the Republican Party (United States), Republican party, he had represented the 11th district in the South Dakota Senate since 2004 Gant graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999 from the University of South Dakota in political science and a minor in business administration. The South Dakota Democratic Party is the affiliate of the Democratic Party in the U.S. state of South Dakota. Martin J. Jackley (born October 13, 1970) is an American attorney and politician who is currently serving as the Attorney General of South Dakota since 2023, having previously served from 2009 to 2019.
