South Carolina Highway 5 (SC 5) is a primary state highway in the U.S. state of South Carolina. The highway, signed as north-south, travels in a northwest-southeast direction connecting the cities of Rock Hill, York and Blacksburg. Route description SC 5 begins with a semi-interchange with US 521 near Van Wyck. Going northwesterly nearly its entire route, it crosses the Catawba River entering York County. In Lesslie, it joins U.S. Route 21 (US 21), crossing over Interstate 77 (I-77) before splitting in Rock Hill. Going southwesterly around the downtown area, it overlaps SC 121 (Albright Highway); then going northwesterly again in, overlapping with SC 901 (Heckle Boulevard). South Carolina Highway 22
South Carolina Highway 22 (SC 22), also known as the Conway Bypass and Veterans Highway, is a four lane freeway that connects US 501 north of Conway, South Carolina, to US 17 in Myrtle Beach. Fort Lawn, South Carolina
Fort Lawn is a town in Chester County, South Carolina. The population was 895 at the 2010 census. History John A. G. Walker owned a plantation in Chester County. After Walker died in the 1870s, his widow wanted a town built, which would be named Walkerville. She offered the Chester and Cheraw Railroad land to build a line through the proposed town, which they did. The Walkers' daughter married a Dr. Fort, who had a large home with a lawn next to the railroad. The story is that the railroad's conductor would say, "Everybody off for Fort's Lawn!" After Southern Power built a dam in 1907, the nearby town of Great Falls saw considerably more growth than Fort Lawn.
