South Brisbane District Cricket Club
South Brisbane District Cricket Club is a cricket club in South Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. They were founded in 1897 and compete in the Queensland Premier Cricket competition. South Brisbane is the equal most successful side in the Queensland Premier Cricket First-grade competition having 21 Premierships alongside Toombul. They dominated the 1900s winning the premiership in six out of ten seasons in the decade, and also notably won three consecutive premierships from 1962 to 1964, but the club has also achieved success consistently throughout its history winning premierships in every decade except the 1920s and 1950s, however it has not found success in recent years winning its last First-grade premiership in 2001. In the shorter formats South Brisbane won four One-Day titles in the 1980s and has yet to win a T20 title. Queensland Premier Cricket
Queensland Premier Cricket is the top cricket competition played in Queensland, Australia. The competition was founded under the name Brisbane Electoral Cricket in 1897 and eventually came to be known as Brisbane Grade Cricket, but has since expanded to take in teams from Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, and Ipswich. As of the 2019/20 season there were six grades in the Two-Day Bulls Masters competition. In addition to the two-day Grade competition there is also a One-Day competition for the John McKnoulty Cup and a T20 competition for the Tom Veivers Trophy. There is also a women's One-Day competition for the Katherine Raymont Shield contested by eight sides as of the 2020/21 season, and a women's T20 competition under Queensland Premier Cricket. Andy Bichel
Andrew John Bichel (born 27 August 1970) is a former Australian cricketer, who played 19 Test matches and 67 One Day Internationals for Australia between 1997 and 2004. He was a right-arm medium-fast bowler, but was also a hard-hitting lower-order batsman. Bichel represented Queensland in the Australian domestic competitions. He also played for Worcestershire, Hampshire and Essex in English county cricket. Since retiring from playing, Bichel has been a coach and a selector. He is a cousin of Chris Sabburg. Sam Trimble
Samuel Christy Trimble, (16 August 1934 – 29 July 2019) was an Australian first-class cricketer who played for Queensland between 1959–60 and 1975–76. Trimble began his career in New South Wales, but unable to break into the state team he moved to Queensland.''The Oxford Companion to Australian Cricket'', Oxford, Melbourne, 1996, pp. 540–41. Francis Cecil Thompson (17 August 1890 – 24 September 1963) was an Australian first-class cricketer who played for Queensland from 1912 to 1933. Biography Educated at Brisbane Grammar School, Cecil Thompson made his first-class debut against New South Wales in 1912–13.''The Oxford Companion to Australian Cricket'', Oxford, Melbourne, 1996, p. 529. He was one of the leading Queensland batsmen in the 1920s, along with Leo O'Connor. He played for University in district cricket until moving to South Brisbane in 1925. Mark Thomas Steketee (born 17 January 1994) is an Australian cricketer. He plays for Queensland cricket team, Queensland. He plays his club cricket for Valley District Cricket Club in Brisbane. During the 2017–18 season, Steketee represented the Cricket Australia XI in the 2017–18 JLT One-Day Cup. Billy Stanlake
Billy James Stanlake (born 4 November 1994) is an Australian cricketer. He is a fast bowler who represented Australia in the 2014 Under-19 Cricket World Cup and played One Day International and Twenty20 International cricket for the full national side. He plays domestic cricket for the Tasmania cricket team and the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League. Gurinder Sandhu
Gurinder Singh Sandhu (born 14 June 1993) is an Australian international cricketer who plays for Queensland domestically. Of Indian descent, he is a tall fast bowler. He played for the Australia Under-19 cricket team in the 2012 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Sandhu made his senior cricket debut for the Sydney Thunder in the 2011–12 Big Bash League season. Craig McDermott
Craig John McDermott (born 14 April 1965) is a former Australian cricketer. Between 1984 and 1996 he played 71 Tests for Australia, taking 291 wickets. Following the end of his playing career, he was the bowling coach for the Australian team for two spells between 2011 and 2016. International career McDermott was the spearhead of the Australian attack in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He was powerfully built at 191 cm tall. He started his career with Queensland in 1983–84 and made his Test match debut for Australia in 1984–85 whilst still 19 v West Indies (his youth engendering his nickname "Billy" – from Billy the Kid). Arthur Jones (Australian Cricketer)
Arthur Jones (17 December 1874 – 2 December 1917) was an Australian cricketer who began his career as a spin bowler but later improved his batting and kept wicket. He played in three first-class matches for Queensland between 1897 and 1911. In his career he was a lawyer. Personal life Jones married Gertrude Mabyn Lawry in 1900 and in 1902 they had a son, Alan, while living in Queensland. At some point after 1915 the family moved to Perth, Western Australia. In January 1917 Jones enlisted in the army in Fremantle under the assumed name Richard Paul Mitchell, was appointed a Lance Corporal in April, and sailed to England for training in Salisbury Plain in June.
