South Bay, Ontario
The Township of Georgian Bay is an area municipality of the District Municipality of Muskoka, in south-central Ontario, Canada. It is located on the Severn River, where it empties into the eponymous Georgian Bay. The municipal offices are at Port Severn. This township is the administrative centre of the Moose Deer Point Ojibway First Nation reserve. Local Government Georgian Bay is governed by a mayor, two district councillors and four councillors, with each councillor representing each of the four municipal wards. Severn River (central Ontario)
The Severn River is a river in central Ontario, Canada. Its headwaters are located at the north end of Lake Couchiching. It drains Lake Couchiching and Lake Simcoe. The river flows generally northwest into Georgian Bay, a large bay of Lake Huron. The Severn forms part of the inland canal system known as the Trent–Severn Waterway, which links Port Severn on Georgian Bay with Trenton on Lake Ontario via the Trent Canal. From the middle of the 19th century up until the completion of the canal in 1920, the Severn was used to transport logs to sawmills down river. There are two hydroelectric stations at falls located on its course. The central Ontario Severn River is only long. Go Home Lake
Go Home Lake is a lake in west central Ontario in the Township of Georgian Bay, District of Muskoka. Go Home Lake is a natural lake which is actually part of the Musquash River system (also spelled as "Musquosh" on some maps). It was opened up as a recreational lake starting in the late 1950s when Crown Lands were surveyed, subdivided and auctioned off in public bids that took place from 1958 through 1962. In the early 60's the construction of two dams was completed, a permanent earthen dam at the Go Home River outlet and a stop log dam (control dam) at the Musquash River outlet. The intent of the dams was to control the water level to maintain a constant water level throughout the boating season eliminating the seasonal fluctuations in the water level. Gibson Lake (Muskoka)
Gibson Lake is a lake in Georgian Bay Township, District Municipality of Muskoka, Ontario, Canada. It is located 45 minutes north of the city of Barrie, and is accessed by Hwy 400 interchange # 174, just north of Six Mile Lake. Gibson Lake borders on the Wahta Mohawk Territory. The lake is long, and flows into Georgian Bay via the Gibson River. The lake comprises two sections with the narrows connecting the North end to the South end. The southern areas of the lake are popular with cottagers from southern Ontario. The first cottagers purchased property here in the 1950s when the land was originally subdivided. There are presently 200 families on the lake with an increasing number of permanent residents. The 2021 Canadian census was a detailed enumeration of the Canadian population with a reference date of May 11, 2021. It follows the 2016 Canadian census, which recorded a population of 35,151,728. The overall response rate was 98%, which is slightly lower than the response rate for the 2016 census. It recorded a population of 36,991,981, a 5.2% increase from 2016. Planning Consultation on census program content was from September 11 to December 8, 2017. The census was conducted by Statistics Canada, and was contactless as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada. The agency had considered delaying the census until 2022.
