South Australian Cricket Association
The South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) is the peak body for the sport of cricket in South Australia. The association administers the Southern Redbacks based in Adelaide. SACA is the controlling body for the South Australian Grade Cricket League. The chairman is Andrew Sinclair. Introduction The South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) was formed in 1871 as the "South Australian Cricketing Association" and is the state Cricket body in South Australia. It administers the Grade club cricket competition – the South Australian Grade Cricket League – and the West End Southern Redbacks, South Australia's first-class cricket team as well as, the South Australian Scorpions, the State's women's team in the Women's National Cricket League (WNCL) and Women's T20 (WT20) . Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Southern Districts Cricket Club
The Southern Districts Cricket Club ("Stingrays") is a semi-professional cricket club in Adelaide, South Australia. It competes in the South Australian Grade Cricket League, which is administered by the South Australian Cricket Association (SACA). The club entered the SACA A grade competition in season 1993/94 after a steady period of development in the lower SACA grades and also with Adelaide and Suburban Turf Association. The zoned area for the club covers from Hallet Cove to Victor Harbor, and the area out to Strathalbyn and Langhorne Creek in the East. Southern Districts CC has four senior teams plus two under 16 teams, two under 14 teams plus an under 17 team, Ray Sutton team (primary school) and a Scorpions Shield girls team. The Adelaide University Cricket Club is an amateur cricket club based in Adelaide, South Australia. It is an affiliate of the Adelaide University Sports Association and plays in the Premier League of the South Australian Cricket Association. Port Adelaide Cricket Club
Port Adelaide Cricket Club is a cricket club in Adelaide, South Australia. Its home oval is the Port Reserve, Port Adelaide. The club was founded in 1893. Port Adelaide has played in the South Australian Grade Cricket League since 1897. History Newspaper records show that a Port Adelaide cricket team existed in the early 1860s. The team competed briefly in the Adelaide Suburban Cricket Association before forming a local league, the Port Adelaide Cricket Association in 1882–83. William Whitridge proposed Port Adelaide at the annual meeting of the SACA in September 1885 but the motion was defeated due to the lack of available grounds. Prospect Cricket Club (the "Pirates") are a Grade Cricket team located in Adelaide, South Australia. Prospect competes in the South Australian Grade Cricket League, administered by the South Australian Cricket Association (SACA). West Torrens Cricket Club
The West Torrens District Cricket Club ("Western Eagles") is a Premier Grade Cricket Club in Adelaide, South Australia. It competes in the West End Premier Cricket Competition, which is administered by the South Australian Cricket Association (SACA). The Western Eagles field four senior men’s, two women’s and seven junior teams and are based at Henley & Grange Memorial Oval. Other grounds used by the club include Henley High School, John Mitchell Reserve and Lockleys North PS. Previous home grounds have included Lindsay Circus (1857-1921), Thebarton Oval (1921-1988) and Kings Reserve (1988-1997). The club has won 15 1st grade men's premierships with the last being in 2021/22, breaking a 5-year premiership drought.
