2018 South American Under-18 Futsal Championship
The 2018 South American Under-18 Futsal Championship was the 2nd edition of the South American Under-18 Futsal Championship ( es, CONMEBOL Sudamericano de Futsal Sub-18), the biennial international youth futsal championship organised by the CONMEBOL for the men's under-18 national teams of South America. The tournament was held in Luque, Paraguay between 22 and 29 March 2018. Different from the first edition, it was played as an under-18 tournament instead of an under-17 tournament. Futsal At The 2018 Summer Youth Olympics
The futsal competition at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics was held from 7 to 18 October. At Tecnópolis and the CeNARD, the first one located in Villa Martelli, and the second one in Buenos Aires. There are two tournaments, one for boys and one for girls. Venues *Tecnópolis – Villa Martelli, Buenos Aires Province *CeNARD – Núñez, Buenos Aires Qualification Each National Olympic Committee (NOC) is limited to participation in 1 team sports (Futsal, Beach handball, Field Hockey, and Rugby Sevens) per each gender with the exception of the host country who can enter one team per sport. Also at Futsal each NOC can enter a maximum of 1 team of 10 athletes per both genders. To be eligible to participate in the Youth Olympics, athletes must have been born between 1 January 2000 and 31 December 2003. Futsal Competitions In South America
Futsal is a football-based game played on a hard court smaller than a football pitch, and mainly indoors. It has similarities to five-a-side football and indoor football. Futsal is played between two teams of five players each, one of whom is the goalkeeper. Unlimited substitutions are permitted. Unlike some other forms of indoor soccer, it is played on a hard court surface marked by lines; walls or boards are not used. It is played with a smaller, harder, lower-bounce ball than football.
