Anning Monument
Anning Monument is a heritage-listed memorial at the corner of Hemmant and Tingalpa Road and Boonoo Street, Hemmant, City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was designed and built by William Busby in 1903. It is also known as Hemmant Boer War Memorial. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 October 1992. History The Anning Monument was unveiled on 14 March 1903 by Colonel Thomas Price. It was designed and executed by monumental mason William Busby of Toowong, Brisbane. The stone memorial honours local man, Lance Corporal John Harry Anning of the 5th Queensland Imperial Bushmen. The memorial was erected by his friends and comrades with the help of a public subscription after he was killed in action at Koffiefontein, South Africa on 6 August 1901 at the age of eighteen. Boer War Memorial, Winsford
The Boer War Memorial stands in the shopping precinct of Winsford, Cheshire, England. It consists of the statue of a soldier in uniform standing on a plinth, and it was unveiled in 1906. It originally stood on a different site in the town and was moved to its present position in the 1960s. In addition to recording the names of those who were lost in the conflict, it also contains the names of those who survived. History Following the Boer Wars, a committee was formed to organise a memorial statue. The sum of £125 was raised by a door-to-door collection, with money coming from 700 subscribers. South African War Memorial, Richmond Cemetery
The South African War Memorial is a World War I memorials, First World War memorial in Richmond Cemetery in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. Designed by architect Edwin Lutyens, Sir Edwin Lutyens, the memorial is in the form of a cenotaph, similar to the Cenotaph, Whitehall, that on Whitehall, also by Lutyens. It was commissioned by the South African Hospital and Comforts Fund Committee to commemorate the 39 South African soldiers who died of their wounds at a military hospital in Richmond Park during the First World War. The Boer War Memorial, also known as the South African War Memorial, stands in a prominent position in Queens Park, Crewe, England. It was erected in memory of local soldiers who had served or fallen in the Boer War, and consists of a bronze statue of soldier in uniform standing on a column on a stone plinth. The South African War Memorial, also known as the Boer War Memorial, is a war memorial in Cardiff, Wales. It was erected in 1908 and unveiled by General Sir John French on 20 November 1909 to honour the victims of the Second Boer War. It is a Grade II* listed structure. Design The memorial was sculpted by the English sculptor, Albert Toft. It lies at the south end of Edward VII Avenue, between the Cardiff Crown Court and City Hall in Cathays Park and is the centre of a U bend in the cul-de-sac. Anglo-Boer War Memorial (Johannesburg)
The Anglo-Boer War Memorial was originally called the Rand Regiments Memorial and dedicated to the men of the Witwatersrand who joined as British soldiers in the Rand Regiments and who had lost their lives during the Second Boer War (1899–1902). The memorial is now next door to the South African National Museum of Military History. It was rededicated on 10 October 1999 to all people who died during the Second Boer War and renamed the Anglo-Boer War Memorial. Fusiliers' Arch
The Fusiliers' Arch is a monument which forms part of the Grafton Street entrance to St Stephen's Green park, in Dublin, Ireland. Erected in 1907, it was dedicated to the officers, non-commissioned officers and enlisted men of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers who fought and died in the Second Boer War (1899–1902). Construction Funded by public subscription, the arch was designed by John Howard Pentland and built by Henry Laverty and Sons. Thomas Drew consulted on the design and construction. The proportions of the structure are said to be modelled on the Arch of Titus in Rome. It is approximately wide and high. The Boer War Memorial is a heritage-listed memorial at Warwick Street, Allora, Southern Downs Region, Queensland, Australia. It was built from 1904 to 1940s. The Boer War Memorial (french: Monument aux héros de la guerre des Boers) is a monument to the heroes of the Boer War. It is located at Dorchester Square in downtown Montreal, in Quebec, Canada. Overview The Boer War Memorial was unveiled in Dominion Square (now known as Dorchester Square) on May 24, 1907. The bronze sculpture was created by George W. Hill (1862–1934).
