''Soundcheck'' is a talk radio program about music and the arts hosted by John Schaefer. It is produced by WNYC-FM, New York Public Radio. From 2002 to 2012, the show aired at 2 p.m. ET on 93.9 FM in New York City and on XM Satellite Radio Channel 133. The show underwent summer hiatusfrom the airwaves in May 2012, and returned in September of that year. WNYC-FM (93.9 MHz) is a non-profit, non-commercial, public radio station licensed to New York City. It is owned by New York Public Radio along with WNYC (AM), Newark, New Jersey-licensed classical music outlet WQXR-FM (105.9 MHz), New Jersey Public Radio, and the Jerome L. Greene Performance Space. New York Public Radio is a not-for-profit corporation, incorporated in 1979, and is a publicly supported organization. The station broadcasts from studios and offices located in the Hudson Square neighborhood in lower Manhattan. WNYC-FM's transmitter is located at the Empire State Building. The station serves the New York metropolitan area.
