''Sound Shattering Sound'' is the major label debut by Perth, Western Australia, Perth alternative rock band Gyroscope (band), Gyroscope released on 14 June 2004 in Australia and debuted a week later on the Australian album charts in the top 40 at No 37. History The album was produced by Shaun O'Callaghan (John Butler Trio, Eskimo Joe) who had produced the band's previous two Extended play, EPs. Gyroscope vocalist and guitarist Daniel Sanders says on the Festival Mushroom Records website. "The music that drove us the most were albums like Weezer, Weezer's debut, or Foo Fighters ''The Colour and the Shape''. They were more of an adventure rather than just being a 40-minute album. I think we got there in the end." Five out of the album's twelve tracks were previously available either on the band's earlier EPs or singles. Gyroscope (band)
Gyroscope are an Australian rock band from Perth, which formed in 1997 as Gyroscope Sunday. The members are Daniel Sanders as lead vocalist and on guitar, Zoran Trivic on guitar and backing vocals, Brad Campbell on bass guitar and backing vocals and Rob Nassif on drums. As of 2014 the group has released four studio albums on major labels. Gyroscope's first major label album, ''Sound Shattering Sound'', was released in June 2004 – seven years after formation. It peaked at No. 37 on the ARIA Albums Chart. Their second such album, ''Are You Involved?'', was issued in September 2005, which debuted at No. 20. It was followed by a double A-sided single, " Fast Girl / Beware Wolf", both tracks polled on the national radio station Triple J's Hottest 100 in 2005. The band's rise in popularity continued with their third album, ''Breed Obsession'', which appeared in March 2008 and peaked at No. 1. Weezer
Weezer is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1992. Since 2001, the band has consisted of Rivers Cuomo (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Patrick Wilson (drums, backing vocals), Scott Shriner (bass guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), and Brian Bell (guitar, keyboards, backing vocals). After signing to Geffen Records in 1993, Weezer released their self-titled debut album, also known as the Blue Album, in May 1994. Backed by music videos for the singles "Buddy Holly", "Undone – The Sweater Song", and "Say It Ain't So", the Blue Album became a multiplatinum success. Launched in March 2003 as an Australian Federal Government initiative, and originally proposed in 1998, the website was updated until 31 March 2007, at which point its role transferred to that of an archive.
