Soulsavers
Soulsavers (also known as The Soulsavers Soundsystem) is an English-American production and remix team composed of Rich Machin and Ian Glover. The Soulsavers' downtempo electronica sound incorporates influences of rock, gospel, soul, and country. To date, the duo has released six albums: '' Tough Guys Don't Dance'' in 2003, ''It's Not How Far You Fall, It's the Way You Land'' in 2007 (with Mark Lanegan and others), '' Broken'' in 2009 (again with Lanegan and guest vocalists), '' The Light the Dead See'' in 2012, '' Angels & Ghosts'' in 2015 and ''Imposter'' in 2021 (with Dave Gahan of Depeche Mode). Angels & Ghosts
''Angels & Ghosts'' is the fifth studio album by English electronica production duo Soulsavers, released on 23 October 2015 by Columbia Records. It is their second collaboration with Dave Gahan, the frontman of Depeche Mode, as guest vocalist and songwriter, this time released under the moniker Dave Gahan & Soulsavers. Artwork The cover photo was shot by Dave's daughter Stella Rose. Release and promotion The album was released as digital download, as well as CD and vinyl through Columbia on 23 October 2015. In support of the album, a tour with a 10-piece band followed with six shows in the US and Europe in late October and early November. Pre-orders for the album started 11 September 2015. ''Broken'' is the third full-length studio album by British electronic music production duo Soulsavers, and their second album predominantly featuring Mark Lanegan as lead vocalist. The album was released by V2 Records, V2 and Cooperative Music in the UK on 17 August 2009, and released by Columbia Records in the US in September 2009 as a digital download. ''Broken'' features a roster of guest musicians, including Mike Patton, Gibby Haynes, Richard Hawley, Jason Pierce, Richard Warren (musician), Richard Warren and Dustin O'Halloran. ''It's Not How Far You Fall, It's the Way You Land'' is the second studio album by English production team Soulsavers, released on 2 April 2007 in the UK and 16 October 2007 in the US. The album also produced two singles. Background The album features American singer Mark Lanegan as primary vocalist. Lanegan is also credited as a co-writer for five of the album's songs. The album also features guests Jimi Goodwin of Doves, Will Oldham (a.k.a. Bonnie "Prince" Billy), P.W. Long and Richard Warren. The album spawned two singles, "Revival" and "Kingdoms of Rain". "Kingdoms of Rain" was initially released on Lanegan's second solo album, ''Whiskey for the Holy Ghost'', in 1994. Mark Lanegan
Mark William Lanegan (November 25, 1964 – February 22, 2022) was an American singer, songwriter, and poet. First becoming prominent as the lead singer for the early grunge band Screaming Trees, he was also known as a member of Queens of the Stone Age and The Gutter Twins. He released 12 solo studio albums, as well as three collaboration albums with Isobel Campbell and two with Duke Garwood. He was known for his baritone voice, which was described as being "as scratchy as a three-day beard yet as supple and pliable as moccasin leather" and has been compared to Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, and Nick Cave. Lanegan began his musical career in 1984 with Screaming Trees, with whom he released seven studio albums and five EPs before their disbandment in 2000. Richard Hawley
Richard Willis Hawley (born 17 January 1967) is an English singer-songwriter, guitarist, and producer. After his first band Treebound Story (formed while he was still at school) broke up, Hawley found success as a member of Britpop band Longpigs in the 1990s. After that group broke up in 2000, he later joined the band Pulp, led by his friend Jarvis Cocker, for a short time. As a solo musician, Hawley has released eight studio albums. He has been nominated for a Mercury prize twice and once for a Brit Award. He has collaborated with Lisa Marie Presley, Shakespears Sister, Arctic Monkeys, Manic Street Preachers, Elbow, Duane Eddy and Paul Weller. Josh Haden (born 1968 in New York City) is an American musician and singer. He is the founder, bassist and singer of the group Spain. Haden is the son of the late Charlie Haden. Career Haden is the founder, bassist and singer of the group Spain, whose first album, ''The Blue Moods of Spain'', appeared on Restless Records to wide acclaim. V2 Records (or V2 Music; V2 being an abbreviation for Virgin 2) is a record label that was purchased by Universal Music Group in 2007 and sold to IASin 2013. In the Benelux, V2 operates separately from PIAS, as the label bought itself out from Universal in 2007.
