Soulife
''Soulife'' is the first compilation album by American singer Anthony Hamilton. It was released on June 20, 2005, by Atlantic and Rhino Records. His third album overall, the album is a collection of previously unreleased songs recorded by Hamilton. The song "Love and War", which features Macy Gray, appeared on the soundtrack to the 2001 film '' Baby Boy''. After leaving MCA Records, which released his debut album ''XTC'' in 1996, Hamilton found a home at Soulife Records, a small Los Angeles-based independent label, where he recorded tracks between 1999 and 2001 for what was supposed to be his second studio album. Soulife went bankrupt before it could release the material, leaving the album unreleased. ''Soulife'' debuted at number 12 on the ''Billboard'' 200 and number four on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, selling 53,000 copies in its first week. Sunshine Anderson
Sunshine Jocelyn Sian Anderson (born June 7, 1974) is an American R&B and soul singer and songwriter. Early life Beginnings Anderson was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and later moved to Charlotte. Wallace Sellars, a friend of a producer/Soulife A&R Vice President, Mike City, heard Anderson singing on her way to the cafeteria of North Carolina Central University (where she earned a BS in criminal justice) and introduced the two. From there, Anderson was managed by Macy Gray during the recording of her first album. 1999–2002: ''Your Woman'' In 1999, Anderson signed with Atlantic Records. Anthony Cornelius Hamilton (born January 28, 1971) is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer who rose to fame with his platinum-selling second studio album '' Comin' from Where I'm From'' (2003), which featured the title track single " Comin' from Where I'm From" and the follow-up " Charlene". Nominated for 17 Grammy Awards, he is also known for the song "Freedom" from the soundtrack album of ''Django Unchained'' co-written and sung as a duo with indie soul singer Elayna Boynton. Career Hamilton started singing in his church's choir at age 17. He attended South Mecklenburg High School where he sang in their award-winning choir under the direction of Mark Setzer. Mike City (born Michael Flowers) is an American singer, songwriter and record producer. He is best known for producing the singles "I Wish" for Carl Thomas, " Heard It All Before" for Sunshine Anderson, "Full Moon" for Brandy and "One Woman Man" for Dave Hollister. MCA Records was an American record label owned by MCA Inc., which later became part of Universal Music Group.
