''Soul Mover'' is a studio album by former Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and Trapeze (band), Trapeze vocalist/bassist Glenn Hughes (English musician), Glenn Hughes. It was his tenth solo studio album and was released in 2005 on Frontiers Records, Frontier, Sanctuary Records, Sanctuary, EMI and Yamaha Corporation, Yamaha records. History ''Soul Mover'', as the name might suggest, strays back into more soulful territory than Hughes previous album, 2003's ''Songs in the Key of Rock''. However Hughes' hard rock and funk leanings are still very evident. The album was Hughes’ best-selling solo record to date, but has been since overtaken by its follow-up ''Music for the Divine''. Glenn Hughes (English Musician)
Glenn Hughes (born 21 August 1951) is an English bassist and singer, best known for playing bass and performing vocals in funk rock band Trapeze and in the Mk. III and IV line-ups of Deep Purple, as well as briefly fronting Black Sabbath in the mid-1980s. He is known by fans as "The Voice of Rock" due to his soulful and wide-ranging singing voice. In addition to being an active session musician, Hughes also maintains a notable solo career. He currently fronts the supergroups Black Country Communion and The Dead Daisies, and fronted California Breed from 2013 to 2015. In 2016, Hughes was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Deep Purple. Early life Hughes was born in Cannock, Staffordshire, England, on 21 August 1951. Trapeze (band)
Trapeze were an English rock band from Cannock, Staffordshire. Formed in 1969, the band originally featured former The Montanas members John Jones (trumpet, vocals) and Terry Rowley (keyboards), and former Finders Keepers members Glenn Hughes (bass, vocals, piano), Mel Galley (guitar, vocals) and Dave Holland (drums). Jones and Rowley left the band following the release of their self-titled debut album in 1970, with the lineup of Hughes, Galley and Holland continuing as a trio. After the release of ''Medusa'' later in 1970 and '' You Are the Music... We're Just the Band'' in 1972, Hughes left Trapeze in 1973 to join Deep Purple. "Mistreated" is a song by the British rock band Deep Purple taken from their 1974 album ''Burn''. The song was written by the band's guitarist Ritchie Blackmore and new vocalist David Coverdale, who, along with new bassist Glenn Hughes, brought new blues and funk elements to the band. History At live performances Hughes would introduce "Mistreated" as a song that Blackmore had written about two years prior to ''Burn''. Inspired by the Free song "Heartbreaker", the song had been considered for the band's earlier album '' Who Do We Think We Are'', but Ritchie held it back. The AMP was a youth center and music venue in Minot, North Dakota, United States. Established in October 2003 by Billy Luetzen, the AMP provided a place for local youth to hang out, and on most weekends staged a concert.
