Renato Castellani
Renato Castellani (4 September 1913 in Varigotti, Liguria – 28 December 1985 in Rome) was an Italian film director and screenwriter. Early life Son of a representative of Kodak, he was born in Varigotti, a hamlet at the time of Final Pia, which became Finale Ligure (Savona) in 1927, where his mother had returned from Argentina to give birth to his son. He spent his childhood in Argentina, in the city of Rosario. After 12 years, he returned to Liguria and resumed his studies in Genoa. He moved to Milan, where he graduated from the Polytechnic University in architecture. In Milan he met Livio Castiglioni and together they aired for GUF (Fascist University Group) ''L'ora radiofonica'' and ''La fontana malata'' by Aldo Palazzeschi, experimenting with new techniques for sound editing on radio. Oscar Blando (1924–1994) was an Italian film actor. He made his debut after being cast in Renato Castellani's neorealist film ''Under the Sun of Rome'' in 1948. The following year he played the lead in ''Twenty Years'', again alongside actress Liliana Mancini.Lancia p.77 His brief stardom coincided with neorealist attempts to replace the traditional star system by casting more ordinary figures drawn from the public. However he appeared in only a few more productions, in more minor roles. Alberto Sordi (15 June 1920 – 24 February 2003) was an Italian actor, voice actor, singer, comedian, director and screenwriter. Early life Born in Rome to a schoolteacher and a musician and the last of five children, Sordi was named in honour of an older sibling, who died several days after his birth. Sordi enrolled in Milan's dramatic arts academy but was kicked out because of his thick Roman accent. In the meantime, he studied to be a bass opera singer. His vocal distinctiveness would become his trademark. Career Cinema and television In a career that spanned seven decades, Sordi established himself as an icon of Italian cinema with his representative skills at both comedy and light drama.
