Sorum Mod-class
''Sorum'' is a 2001 South Korean horror film and the feature film debut of director Yoon Jong-chan. Starring Kim Myung-min and Jang Jin-young, it tells the story of a young taxi driver who moves into a dilapidated old apartment building, the site of a brutal tragedy thirty years earlier. The film has been nominated for and won several awards. Plot Looking for a new start, a young taxi driver moves into Apt. 504 of an old tenement named Migum Apartments. He soon finds that the previous tenant died mysteriously, and everyone on the floor is connected to the man. After befriending the neighbor living a few doors down, he falls into an affair that sends them both down a dark path. But there's something else odd about the atmosphere in the run-down building. Does a ghost haunt those living here, or does the evil exist in those left alive? Yoon Jong-chan
Yoon Jong-chan (born 1963) is a South Korean film director. He directed ''Sorum'' (2001), ''Blue Swallow (film), Blue Swallow'' (2005), ''I Am Happy'' (2009) and ''My Paparotti'' (2013). Career Yoon Jong-chan majored in Film at Hanyang University, and upon graduation he joined the crew of Kim Young-bin's ''No Emergency Exit'' (1993) as an assistant director. In 1995, Yoon went to the United States to attend Syracuse University, where he earned his Master of Fine Arts, MFA in Film Directing. While at Syracuse, he directed three short films about memory and fate, ''Playback'' (1996), ''Memento'' (1997), and ''Views'' (1999), which won numerous awards at film festivals both in Korea and abroad. Yoon returned to Korea in 2001, and first taught in the film department of Hoseo University. The Blue Dragon Film Awards () is an annual awards ceremony that is presented by ''Sports Chosun'' (a sister brand of the ''Chosun Ilbo'') for excellence in film in South Korea. The Director's Cut Awards () is an annual awards ceremony for excellence in film in South Korea. It is presented by the Korea Film Director's Network (KFDN), a group of approximately 300 Korean filmmakers.
